Apologies if this has been done, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

I have been reading a series books set during the beging of the hundred years war and this has inspired me to start a small English raiding force predominantly made up of bowmen and hobilars however I have had a look and can't seem to find any really good manufacturers. The closest is Crusader miniatures, I have some of their WW2 stuff but unfortunately their hundred years war range is quite small.

Any suggestions would be gratefuly recieved.

Perry Miniatures have a specific range that is the best on the market (Called Agincourt to Orleans in their index)...

http://www.perry-miniatures.com/index2.html

Following that you have the old Foundry range also sculpted by the Perry Twins but more towards 25mm than 28mm...

http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/main.asp

Next you have Front Rank Miniatures who also have a specific 100 Years War range...

http://www.frontrank.com/4_1_lev3_Hundred_Years_War.asp

Those would be the main contenders along with the Crusader range.

Im using Perry, Foundry and Crusader in my 100 Years War Free Company army. May even mix in some Front Rank for a bit of variety.

Darn cool idea squilverine!
Those figures look really good.
They could also double as Empire?

Some of the Perry sculpts are amazing.

Essex also do an extensive range of Medieval figures.
Some are better then others, but still worth a look.

Ex-illis has the nicest hundred years war minis out.

A Boxed set of 8 billmen and 8 bowmen is available for about $27 US

A Boxed set containing 4 Hobelars and 4 Knights will be available at the end of June. Don't know MSPR has not been announced yet.

I'm not seeing hideous, but everyone is entitled to an
opinion. Would you appease my curiosity and point out what you dont like.

Personally I like the poses for the models and especially like the realistic proportions.

The mounted Sergeant looks like hes riding a jersey cow. The Infantry look like they've been put on the rack by their Lord and given a good stretch.

The proportions are all wrong.

Horrible.

Ha. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Imo these minis have much more lifelike proportions than kost 28 mil minis. I'm not a fan of the classic, chubby, pewter look. You know, the one where people look like hobbits and their hands are the same size as their head. But thats why its great that so many mini companies exist. We can all find a look we like.

I use Front Rank (and Perry's for WotR) myself, although my focus falls either side of HYW (namely Wars of the Roses and Edward I's Welsh wars) their HYW miniatures a superb. I recommend Front Rank and the Perrys highly. Just my 2 cents/pence/triganic pus.

That's the Copplestone style, Perry's tend to do anatomically correct style, as do other sculptors. I'm not too fond of those Ex-illis miniatures myself, for one they aren't historically correct in the slighest so I wouldn't use them for historical gaming, maybe fantasy - which they seem to be; but as you say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

I would Recommend Pendraken Miniatures

Tons of 10mm minis for very cheap (well cheap for you British ) I think a 1000 point army is 49 English pounds max. There are 1000 point armies that cost less than that though on their site.

Give them a look at

The Fellow that owns the place is a really nice guy and very down to earth.

Shipping is not that bad either.

Here is their link:http://www.pendraken.co.uk/

Hope that this helps

IIRC Peter Pig do some in 15mm, or they may be Wars of the Roses. Probably not much in it.

Really hope no-one minds the necro. Wanted to ask about 100-year war/WoTR minis, there is already some great information here, and didn't think it warranted a new thread!

Also, think this may be one of those old threads from the old forum set-up and might need to be moved..

Anyway! My question..

Was thinking of getting some 'Front Rank' Medievil-era miniatures to go alongside the Perry 'Agincourt' miniatures. Does anyone have both and can comment on their scale/proportion?

Here is the link to the website: http://www.frontrank.com/4_lev2_Medieval.asp I know both are 28mm, but also that the Perry ones have very realistic proportions so how well they would match with Front Rank was probably my main concern.

Also, remember seeing in another thread about an adaptation of the 'Ronin' skirmish rules for later medievil period. Has anyone tried this and would care to comment on how the rules move across?
