I have a apoc tourny tomorrow.
I am in need of advice of what to take to use up the last 895pts.
I am thinking of a maruader bomber.

My oppenents are:
IG and deathwing (easy opponents)
Khorne Deamons (an'grath, Angron, skulltaker, if its khorne he has it) (in a test match i beat him)
CSM and Andnakojiffunbuhddd (999pt tzeench greater deamon. can't be bothed to spell it properly)
Possible mech marines (tfg opponents)
possible blood angels and space wolves.

4000pts.

well, I'm no good with lists as I have yet to begin wargaming. But yea, I would say go with the Maurader Bomber. If anything it can get you some decent kills or just be a fake ace.

Officio Assassium Exucution Force.
May add that.

Oh. Baneblade, Warhound, defense laser, loads of marines, grey knight Terminators, Grey knight characters, GK devestator equivelant with all psycannons (for some nice daemonrape)

Deamons I have no problem against.
And GK are so over costed.
Baneblade isn't to my style.
No one round here owns a warhound.
Defence laser won't fit in the stupid deployment zones. (we have rules to edit the apoc mission. They are terrible)
Loads of marines doesn't really help.

Maybe blood angels deathstar ally unit?

Nah. Tbh, you've got everything covered. Perhaps add a more mechanised/fast section? Maybe a couple of squads of Assault marines? They're always good to tie stuff up, contest objectives or counter attack/charge.


Also, just out of interest, what strategic asset(s) will you be taking?

There is a limit to what i can borrow.
I will put up a list of what i can feasible obtain/use first. The tell me your opinion.

Take 2 stormtrooper units for cheap objective holders. Take atleast one libby - in termy armour if possible. Shutting down invulnerable saves and the psychic defense is invaluable. MotA is pretty good, giving you S6 makes him decent in assault. Chaplains are just AMAZING with assault terminators.

Take the vanguard. Heck, they might actually be useful in apocalypse. Creep them up and hide them in terrain, or just locator beacon on a pod and bring them down that way. If they don't get the assault off in Deepstrike, they're dead. Infact, if they're not assaulting, they're pretty much dead. Only use them if you have pts spare. Will you post a battle report of your games? That would be a fun read

The Stormtroopers i took against the Khorne player to hold objectives. YEah there were the most likely to be added.

One of my Inquisitor Lords (DH) could pass for a flibby in termy armour. Null zone will be useful. But for pyschic def. Inq get rangeless hoods.

My Vanguard have won me more games than i care to mention. I must be the one person who has figured out how to use them.
The reason they don't have jump packs is in the last codex they were just cc verterans. And they couldn't take jump packs. I doubt I'll drop pod them unless i can scrounge another drop pod.

I didn't buy the metal veterans.
MK1 i liked better because it was actually useable with the last 'dex.
I bought a Blood claw box (when they still did them) and used that.
My chapter traits and drawbacks were:

Anyway, I remember one of my first 40k games.. against space marines.. with veterans..

I was saying loads of crap like "Can you imagine a squad with FIVE missile launchers? THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!" and I thought my chapter masters' lightning claw only gave him ONE LC attack and the rest was normal. No wonder I got thrashed in combat by 5 metalvets.. man being a newb sucked. But thank god we're past that

I rolled the 999pt deamon with CSM.

Short version from memory: I bid 5mins for deployment. He bid 10.

This is crucial as going first allowed me 2 turns before the 999pt tzeentch greater deamon arrives. 2 turns to kill of all his champions in units. (big deamon MUST posses a champion). He starts with 13 champions on the table.
I have 6 Vindicare assassins. End of turn one he has 6 champions and has a dreadnought from a drop pod with blown-off arms in his deployment zone. He charges some Khorne beserkers in, which crucially have a champion. I can't pick off the champ in combat. :(
Turn 2 I kill some more and he has 4 champs left. His turn the turkey posseses the skull champ of the 'zerkers and flys off. I am now screwed.
Turn 3 I am holding 3 Objectives (one vitel)and contesting one more (5 total).
Turn 4 it starts to go downhill for me. The 999pt deamon starts summoning Horrors onto objectives. Yep.
CBA to do turn 5 prety much he tasks himself with hunting down my vindicares (He was getting really worried about me killing off all his champs). He manages it.
TUrn 6 He has 4 units of his starting army. That is 4 'zerkers, 2 possesed (which he used re-inforcments on), an aspiring sorcerer and a rhino. All the rest of his army was Horror made by the 999pt deamon. I lost because of that ability.
Oh and Sparks Garland (my chapter master with his own rules) slaughtered his way across the table and blantantly refused to die. Tha saved an astounding amount of wounds.

Due to some rules to make apoc 'better' army selection was limited to 1 codex per army. As it was meant to be doubles it meant 2 2000pts armies alongside each other.
I used SM with WH allies, Which says in the codex i could do. And is why i didn't take like 20 Orbital Bombardments. Because the ally rules says if i take WH to add to SM I can't take Hvy support. Other stuff is 0-1 except troops which is 0-2. Apoc takes away 0-1 BUT not the thing that means i can't take Hvy support. Because of the one army thing.

Now then. The tfg team was playing double DH with aliied SM (DH as 'host army') Which meant thier choices from C:SM is tactical squads 0-1 (which doesn't matter) scout squad and some other units. They had Sternguard and other elites and tanks they wern't allowed.
Fething Cheaters got out of it due to the incompitant TO who simply said: "I'm not familar with that codex"
They are in the next round.

That's like me going against, say, Daemons for the first time and saying "I'm not familiar with that codex, so all of the stuff in yours must be cheating bullcrap".

Just open the pages in the DH/WH codexs, and POINT to the words and make him read it. It isn't hard.
