Hi everyone,
I have been lurking about Dakka for a few weeks now, and decided to finally make an account as I have a favour to ask. Back when I was about 8 or 9, my big bro ( 17 at the time) was into 40k big time, focusing mostly on painting and modelling. Of course being a younger brother I wanted to join in. He used to drive us to the local GW where he'd chat about painting techniques and what not whilst I ogled the displays. Most visits, I'd usually come back with a cheap blister pack, which would entertain me for hours. He left for uni a year later and I just sort of stopped the whole Warhammer thing.

Anyhoo, I'm going to visit him soon and as he stuck at his hobby, I thought it would be a good time for me to get back on the bandwagon. He's currently got a Tau fixation, whereas I myself have been seduced by the Orks. Like him, I don't care too much about the gaming aspect, more the modelling. My plan is to create a few 'sample' units for a heavily themed Tau veteran Ork army. As I said, I'm not big about gaming, this is more about creativity and brotherly bonding/arguing over paint.

The 1st creation shall be a bizarre vehicle thingy. I have given unprecedented access to his fabled Bitz box, something I would have killed for as a child. The basic plan for the front of the vehicle to be an XV8 crisis suit torso held up by a wheel and the main body AOBR Deffkopta, with the rear held up by a shield drone lashed to the back. Underneath is an extremely crude photoshop of what I plan to do, but as you can see, the crisis suit torso is missing.

Please can someone send me a picture of a crisis suit torso, side on like the rest of the picture? Thanks a lot and I hope I didn't bore you too much.

Visiting my brother has been postponed due to illness, so I've taken the time to write a little background for the Ork / Tau conflict. Gimme some C&C please.

Planet Profile: Mo'uggam

The planet currently known as Mo'uggam used to be a small 3rd phase Colony on the very edges of Tau space. It was a fairly unremarkable planet, with the majority of its surface covered in a vast, uninterupted desert. The abundance of raw matierials in its northern hemisphere lead the Tau to heavily fortify this area, whilst leaving most of the planet untouched.

At the same time, the Orkoid Warboss known as 'Big Lad Fizzuggam' had entered the area of the planet. Quite the entrepenuer, Fizzuggam was interested in setting up a holiday resort for all greenskins. Upon seeing the heavily fortified area in the planets Northern hemisphere, Fizzuggam and his warband set their landing craft down on the unprotected Southern Hemisphere. A beach head was quickly established, and Fizzuggam set about building up his business.

After several weeks , the Orks had managed to create several small fortified townships and had astonishingly managed to achieve orbital superiority, due mostly to Fizzuggam's huge fleet, purchased using his vast fortune. The planet had become an enormous playground. The huge deserts acted as testing areas for experimental vehicles, whilst the stranded Tau made great target practice.

After an initial advertising campaign throughout the various Ork Tribes, Fizzuggam's holiday and leisure planet was making a name for itself.

It quickly became a luxury Ork resort, where wealthy greenskins could pay a nominal fee to stay in one of the forts, fight some Tau and try out some new toys, manufactured by the on site Meks. Poorer Orks make their own way on vast pilgramiges. Upon arrival, they may be rejected due to a lack of Teef and forced to inhabit the planets labyrinthine cave system. The Tau were stranded, playthings to the greenskins. Occasionally, the Ork blockade would drop captured Tau weapons and supplies back into the Tau stronghold, prolonging the Orks holiday.

Here's a sketch I did to try and make what I plan on doing a little clearer. I've replaced the shield drone with a little jet engine thing as I think it looks cooler.
