Hello all,
Bit of a lurker here but finally thought I'd contribute.
I have about 1200pts of Marines which I will try and put up but here are the first
two tactical squads.
The idea is that the company colour (as in codex) is displayed on the right shoulder.
The rim is then checkered with the squad colour which acts like a company colour
e.g 3rd company 2nd squad
(red left shoulder)+(yellow checked rim)
Anyway, enough talk here are som pictures, fluff should eventually follow but be warned there is loads of the stuff...
Here is 3rd company 2nd squad under sergeant Haxis

Acquired some pictures of my scratch built ultra low budget dreadnought.
Sir Boxy as he might as well be called.
Picture quality is pretty gopping but what do people think?

Sir Boxy is an apt name but the model does actually look great in my opinion i'd love to have it in my army.
Like the color scheme as well.

Hmm, They look good and the colour scheme is well-thought out. But I would recommend thinning your paints, the models look a touch gloopy right now. Also, if you do a second dread like that one, it could do with a less-static pose.

Glad you like them.
I see what you mean about the paint jobs will try to thin it out for the future.
Next up will be a vanguard squad (if you could call it that) and a rhino with scratch predator turret.
May also make some terrain, (have seen some good crater tutorials lurking around).

The dreadnought, or sir boxy as he shall now be known was based fevered imaginings after a
particularly heavy night out. The curved surfaces (feet/fist) are made out of corks and the body is built up of card
squares over a frame built of Ikea pencils. rivets and details are out of thin card and green stuff. not the most sturdy model
but works for me.
Tried experimenting with some craters as terrain tried two methods
Paper mache ring on card, one dried covered in sand and painted.

nice dreadnought; and I like the paint scheme on the marines.
I know it's probably a bit late, but there are some pretty good templates for building dreadnoughts (and other vehicles) over at Paperhammer (scroll down to the bottom), Very low rent, and pretty simple to make. I mean, they even have attack bikes!

Not a bad start mate, GW have a good article which could help improve the rhino and dread a bit, just make it look abit more weathered and such. Very interesting looking dread btw, made me think of something from attle tech.

I tried the paperhmmer site looked very good, unfortunately dammned computer wouldn't take the templates...
As mentioned I built some turrets to try and make my rhino more versitile,
Afterall Whirlwinds and predators are still mounted on rhino bodies so scale seemed ok.
Captain is a freebie model but I felt he was suitably blinged up, and chaplain is an attempted from a mix of parts.
Here are the pics sorry for any blurry ones.

Fair play to you for building your own models from scratch.
Takes alot of skill and courage in my books.
I was scepitcal of 'sir boxy' at first but he's really quite some character.

Nice work, I especially like the conversion work. It may not be the best, but it does show the person what you want to use.
Keep it up.

Yes the crozius is a dwarf hammer with eagles from chainsaw handles attatched to make it "fancy".
The conversions were really a way to increase my army size (Minis are few and far between out here).
The whirlwind was sort of a last dash and rather shameful conversion "I'll sitck pencil tips in card so they look like missiles... "
Still I think it looks acceptable from a distance i.e on the tabletop.
Here are some scouts, decided to try some camouflage as I was find it strange seeing stealth troops crreping around ruins etc dressed in bright red/blue.
Sorry if the bottom two are dark but they wouldn't photograph well at all.
