Hi ive recently started collecting tau and I currently have a sky ray, hammerhead, pirahna, stealthsuits and a few mix and match kroot and firewarriors.
I was just asking for good ideas on painting them. My empire is shared between me and my friend, we are called the Shadow Tau we have a background story and everything it has about 3 different colour schemes already but I want to paint mine a new fresh scheme please post some ideas and pictures if you can,

What about having them in an urban/ stealthy colour scheme like some areas codex grey some space wolves grey some black and some shadow grey?

try black legsd and red pads on them. that i what im going to do on them. or black legs some red/orang on the pads and stuff.

If you think thats bad... you should see his pirahna. it was his first model and the tau shoulder pads are on backwards!!! and for some reason the burst cannon is bent to the side.???

I dont think it`s so bad for frist (or second) model, but you should at least paint drones in same way as the tank it self.

You should probably strip the paint off of them and repaint them yourself. And perhaps it would be a good idea to paint them one color scheme instead of 3.

this may sound strange but how do i strip paint off?

Drop it in a pot of Fairy power spray (the green bottled stuff) and after a few days it should scrub off. This works as well as the simple green lots of people will suggest and is easier to get in the UK.

No put it in dettol its cheaper and does the same (or any cheap supermarked euvilalent *morrisons 79p*

ps get an old toothbrush (aquafresh and dettol are bizzare)

Ok I wil goto morrisons with my mom soon I think, so what is the morrisons one called?

I've used Acetone free nail polish remover to strip paint. The result were not the greatest but at least it works.

Dettol is a REALLY bad idea (even caps don't show how bad it is). It turns the paint into a slime which sticks to everything and is almosty impossible to get off.

Was your friend trying to make it look like Orks got hold of it? It seems like a paint scheme that an ork player would use. Not to mention the missile pod on the starboard (right) engine.

Wot so if you use the power spray you wont need to scrub off the slime and it will just come off...i never thought there would be a difference

If you put it in Fairy power spray the paint just peels off. No slime, very little effort.

I just started with the fairy power spray hopefully the paint will come off im going to take pics of some of my firewarriors and puit them on soon, i will put them in a new thread.
