So today I got a whole bunch of Crisis suits (7 suits and 14 drones) in the mail (big thanks to 1meerkat2 over in the grand old lion) and while I wanted to convert most of them to fireknife, I was wondering if dakka had thoughts on a better option.
the intent of these suits is to field an army of 1 suit commander, 9 suits, and 9 broadsides, with however many FWs possible filling out the points (ideally im looking at 10 fireknife suits 9 broadsides, and 20 firewarriors) For more on that list check my warmachine forum...
Basicly they're equipped as follows (im only listing weapons cause ima cut up their secondaries on my own)
2 suits, TL Plasmas
1 suit, Burst cannon and Plasma
1 Suit, burst cannon and Fusion
1 suit, burst cannon and missile pod
1 suit, fusion and missile pod
the seventh suit is sunforge, but i'm keeping that for my current army
So anyways, thoughts? Keep in mind im cheap/lazy so i can't just magnetize them (i know how much of a headache it would save but i'm a struggling college student) So what should i change and what should i keep? i Lean towards fireknife just beacuse they are versatile and deadly, and they put out a high number of unique shots, which helps curb some of the horde enemies (which i think tau struggle with even more than MEQs...at least guard style horde, or nids...orks less so)

I would avoid putting burst cannon on Crisis suits. They just take up slots that could be filled with much better weapons. If you want to take burst cannon then go for stealth suits instead.
2 or 3 squads of fireknife will provide the supporting fire that the FW squads lack in heavy and special weapons. I would then reccommend looking at TL missile pod and TL fusion blaster. A squad of 2 of either of these loadouts is only about 100 points if you add in the suit targetting array option.
Against horde armies I would lean toward stealthsuits and Railheads. Add in a few missile pod armed crisis suits to help in popping transports and you're there

glad to see you're a fan of (i think it's) yakface's crisis suit loadout page XD yea the tau have more than enough S5AP5 weapons to choke a mule
See i never got the advantage of deathrain tho... sunforge is understandable cause it's basicly a slower potentially more deadly piranha but deathrain seemed a little impractical to me...since you get no benefit in shots all you get is more accuracy in long range...but fireknife can provide the same with the added plus of an AP2 weapon...i guess deathrain is chaper but i just dont see its plus side really

The main plus of the deathrains for me is the ability to stay really far away and pop transports with quite a bit of efficiency. They aren't something you spam multiple units of, just have a couple of suits kicking about for emergencies

Here, I tried my best with what i had (no lightbox or proper cam sorry  ) but hopefully you can see what they've got...Im thinking of using fusion blasters, flamers, and burst cannons to make the right parts, since i have three of each and no MPs or PRs
Again, sorry for the bad quality, it's the fastest/best i got
