The point of this list is to see how well a large unit of GG will do in 8th, which with theoryhammer so far, I believe it should be alright.

Iam thinking of getting an elf army around 1000 to 1.5k so if you could tell me how it does against chaos warriors and dwarves please.

Never tried this but it's worth a go and I do like the idea.

I don't think the royal standard is of much use. 100pts for MR1 and fear isn't that great (as it is just +1 to dispel roll). You would be better off with the Razor Standard especially with the large shooty unit.
Not sure about Aech either as you don't get volley fire as a stand and shoot reaction but can see advantages in it.

With the current list I'd also invest in a great weapon for the Highborn. He may need a bit of combat bite

I suppose how do you intend to play it? 5 wide by 8 deep or really wide and reform when the enemy gets close?

I'd do it something like this
Noble on Elven Steed - Potion of Foolhardiness, Hail of Doom Arrow, Spear, LA, Shield - 134
5 Glade Riders - Muso, Champion - 138

Noble BSB - Potion of Strength - 110
44 Archers - Full Command, Banner of Swiftness - 567

1 Great Eagle - 50

Bit more hitting power with the glade riders whilst not decreasing your shooting capacity. You do loose the Bow of Loren Arcane Bodkins combo but you do gain the Hail of Doom Arrow. The Potion of Strength on the Noble gives the archers a bit of hitting power in in combat whilst the Banner of Swiftness makes it easier to move out of their minimum charge range (so you get to stand and shoot)

Total shots 50 per turn plus HoDA. Plus you have a counter charge unit. That should put a dent in any list.

Hmmmmmm....... I'd much rather see that glade guard unit split into 2, but it would be interesting to hear how it does this way... I can think of a lot of things that would end them, though.

Such as: 2 strong opposing units that are fast (let's say 2 units of knights). You can only shoot at one... so the other's getting a free pass if they can get within your stand and shoot range.

What formation would you deploy such a unit in?

I noticed you said use a potion of strength and I could only find that in the back of the rule book does that mean any army can use those items stated in the rule book?
