I recently used a bunch of necron parts to give my IG mechanical arm's and legs and it turned out pretty good. So to take it a step further I wanted to make good ole Iron hand Straken out of a Pariah. I love the Pariah model, but i'm not a fan of the straken one.

My problem is that there is a difference in size between the models, the Pariahs being much taller, w/ longer limbs.
So whats the best way to go about this?

I have green stuff, but i am a novice w/ it. I have trouble making smooth surfaces, let alone sculpting over a model.
is there a decent sculpting tutorial floating around?

I can kit bash him together, but the sizes would be a little off. I could fill in the spaces w/ greenstuff + cables/electronic looking things.

I have a good idea of how i want him to turn out, but I only want to do this once.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Get a colour shaper to help you get the green stuff smooth they make you in to a sculpting god ! for a few $/£.
then just build up the bulk over the necron body slowly {remember you can always cut it back}
i would start on the legs as this will give you practice and are less detailed . and have a few models to hand as reference.
good luck and let us see how it go's.

So here he is, for now. I couldn't find colorshapers, but i did find some metal tools that helped quite a bit.

the leg turned out bigger than i'd hoped, but the chest was better than i expected. the chain will eventually cover the chest to mask some of the uglyness, but we'll see what happens after i paint. I may find a smaller chain

I drilled out the eyesocket and put a lens from a binocular in his eye.

the sword is from fantasy skeletons or some such nonsense It is actually a scythe blade, but i felt like it looked like it could be a catachan devil fang.

I guess its ok for my first sculpting attempt, but then i'm never happy with my work. So let me know how it could be improved
