If you play at a Brick and Mortar store, your store is invited to attend the Battle of the Stores II !
The battle location is in Florida, so if your store is in that state, you don't have far to travel!
Info is as follows:
Where: Darkside Comics and Games
501 N. Beneva Road
Suite 260
Sarasota, FL
When: November 13th, 2010 (may be changed to November 20th.. waiting on Darkside's confirmation)
Size: 2000 points!
Who can enter? ANY store may choose to send 3 champions. If a store has more than one location, each location may send champions, but if they win, the location that won will be given the trophy... no hawking other peoples accomplishments!
Boring rules:
1. Each store may select 3 champions to represent them. (2 are mandatory)
2. No store champion will ever play against a champion representing the same store.
3. The lowest score of the three for each store per round will be dropped.
4. All scores will be added together, and the highest point total wins.
5. In the event of a tie, the score differential with opponents will decide the victor. If this is a tie, we either add in and average the lowest scores (auto 0’s if you only bring 2 people) or have a monkey knife fight.
More interesting rules:
1. A tabling results in full scenario points, however bonus points must still be earned, not given. The opponent tabled may still have earned points (killing the enemy general, etc..) and will keep those as appropriate.
2. If your opponent quits, it counts as a tabling, however, you may continue to move and run as needed to try to take objectives/ get bonus points as long as there are rounds left. You may only make legal moves/ runs (no shooting or close combat for any reason) and must roll as normal if the game is of random length. In other words, if your opponent quits round 2, chances are you will be fine. round 5, you might have trouble getting table quarters or objectives.
3. Rules questions will be handled by the tournament judge. His rulings are final. Now that being said, all “champions” will be knowledgeable in the game of
40K, and are expected to know the rules. If you think that a leman russ can move 24” and fire all of its guns, please excuse yourself from this tournament, and allow someone else to attend.
The good stuff:
1.This tournament is designed to see who can PLAY the best... not PAINT the best!
a:. If the sight of poorly or (GASP) unpainted models sickens you...
b: If you feel that taking 9 Khorne Bezerkers is a sin, because the magic number for Khorne is “8”...
c: If you are sickened by the thought of showing your list to your opponent before the game...
Perhaps this tournament is not for you. That being said, It is always great to see painted models, and if you can win and still keep your lists fluffy, more power to you! But by no means do you need to shy away from 3 monoliths, dual lash 9 oblits, or a crap ton of monstrous creatures! Bring what you think gives you the best chance to win, because bragging rights for this last 1 year, and you can always paint your models later!
2. You will win a giant trophy. this trophy will have your stores name engraved, the year of your victory, and if you want, the names of the winners! You can display the trophy in your store, until the next Battle of the stores, when you need to defend your title. The trophy must be returned immediately if your store closes, or you decide not to participate next year. The trophy is owned by the tournament organizers, and is being lent to you for display.
3. this is a FREE tournament. No entry fee. This is not about making money, or selling product (though if you buy stuff from the host store, I am sure it will be appreciated), but it is about bringing some of the best players around together in one place to play some games, have some fun, and promote the hobby.
4. Prize support is being worked on... we will announce what (if anything) besides the trophy will be given.
5. The tournament missions will be posted MONTHS before the event, so you have plenty of time to practice and make your lists!
