Hi all I'm putting a space wolf army together I have painted a total of 6 elder before this so I'm a complete novice here please take that into account. So far I've painted a total of 21 models to date I noticed in the pictures especially the fur was kind of muddled in the photograph allot more then it is on the model.
Things I would really like to know
1. A good fine detail brush I'm using some I got from my local hobby lobby they seam to fray after about 6 or so models
2. A good method for using washes I've been applying over the whole model then trying to dry brush over them to bring out some highlights it doesn't come out well in most the pictures but the results are better then the photos I've taken just not to a point I think is of good quality.
3. Anything else I might need to know should know etc... I'm new and really wanting to learn as much as I can so let loose tear into me give advice etc... , whatever you get the drift.
Also I'm still afraid of highlighting I know I should give in, I tried it on some Eldar with mediocre success.
Once again most of these look much better then the photos but the photos give the general idea I thank you all in advance for any criticism/help/tutoring I receive form this post I'm really enjoying painting and I cant wait to finish my full army and field them I've yet to play a good full size game.

1) I've seen people swear by the GW one if nothing else is available. Try to get a local good quality 000 one. But before investing in one, try taking care of your current brushes and practice cleaning them and such. Check online tutorials for that stuff. Sure some of the brushes MIGHT be total crap but most people I've seen just have no idea how to care for them. I'm not saying you're one of them, just a friendly heads up if you say they're breaking up too soon.
2)I think washes are supposed to be the very last thing you apply to a model, unless you're doing incredible highlights.

I'm kind of a noob but just a few quick criticisms:

1) Something is VERY odd on that tone of white, I'm not sure what it is tough, must be the cleanliness in some parts of it or something. Maybe it's just me, I've been known to find some colours strange.
2) Those view slots on your rhino, paint the interior of them also gold or a darker colour.
3) Get some side views of that rhino
4) I'm also guilty of this, but drill those barrels as soon as you get a hobby drill.
5) Are those arms part of the scenery? Did you magnetize them and stick them nearby so we can look of them? Just checking... I've seen smart folks do strange things...

It's really hard to tell with these photos, but it looks like you're applying the paint neatly and taking care of mold lines so that's a huge positive for a beginner.

it looks like your wash might be puddling on some of the flat areas and not getting into the areas you want to be shading.
What are you using as your wash? A solution to this might be to use multiple thinner wash coats, allowing each one to dry before applying the next.

Drybrushing has a lot of uses, but I wouldn't recommend it on marines for the most part. Marines are a perfect way to work out painted highlights, just take a thinned, slightly lighter version of your base colour and pick out all the armour plate edges that would get hit by overhead light.

Your skin tones look a little drab. I assume you're just hitting a flesh coloured base coat with that black wash? Faces are a great place to work on subtle layered highlights. Just pull out some flesh tones, reds, browns, beiges, and go to town, just keep every coat as thin as possible without losing control of the paint.
