Some freinds gave me a box of plague marines a while back (three years ago) and since then i have been slowly painting, modifying and working my way towards a usable 1750 list. So far i have mostly completed 14 plague marines, a rhino, a winged nurgle demon, Typhus and have a slew of other projects in the works. I also converted a black reach dread to serve in my list. here are some shots of the Rhino.

That tank looks awesome. You did a great job dirtying it up, beating the crap out of it, then putting it on a sufficiently muddy base. Very nice diorama quality - although I'd probably add some Imperial Guardsmen running in terror or hiding in the trench!

They could be litanies of hate or some daemonic preaching to nurgle?

The wax seal is the Tri -boil shape thing, so I am going to say it's something about Nurgle.

Ah, I didn't notice the tri-pustule thing. All seals look the same to me at a distance

Perhaps a little something to differentiate it slightly more from the ground? The colors being so similar make it, at very first glance, kind of blend in.
Not really sure what to suggest by way of ways to do that, though.
Unless you want to have it leaving a trail of slime like a slug. Some sort of juncture between it and the ground so they don't segue so smoothly into each other.

I really dont dig to hard on the whole green death gaurd thing. Its not even remotely close to what the DG look like in the dex. The Impurity seals on the side are actually from the skaven kits. There are a few more skaven bits that i cant wait to add. As for the models base. It does need to be differentiated just a bit from the rhino. I havent figured out quite how im gonna do that. One thought was to just add as many bits and fragments of wood, flesh and wire to the base that there would be a distinct textural differentiation. There were going to be some hand scultped swollen gaurdsman piled in a rotting heap but i needed to finish this for a painting competition. So far i have finished 13 marines and the Rhino.
I know this is NOT enough. so ... tomarrow i will try to get my demon prince that i am sculpting photo worthy and then post him and some pics of Typhus.

I like the extra-matte, almost porous, look of them.

Thats mostly cause i had to matt coat them a bunch of times because the meathod of painting i used resulted in the paint rubbing off easily. BUMMER. i was furiouse when i would work on a model for hours and then have the paint wear off from holding it. Errrr. So lots of paint there.

wow I love those models. Goof job on them. Death guard were my 1st favorites, until Slaanesh came, that is.

Thanks Scrazza. I used to hate Slannesh cause one of my freinds plays nothing but Slannesh. The Cheapest Mark, combined with the most utility. Hight INT. is so key to winning in melee. Also noise marines are not all that bad at shooting.

Thanks all. As promised i have a pic of the Demon Prince that i have been sculpting. This shot shows his gas masked face. He is nearing completion. I constructed him out of tinfoil, wire, sculpy, green stuff, plasticard and some coffee stirring sticks from my local coffee shop. Still in the works though. when i get some better pics of it i will post them.
The dread, (its named Modread... I know thats cheesy but its a fun obscure pun) took a while to convert. I cut the front of the sarcophagus out and scupted the head that i have there. The horn is from the Carnifex box, one of many bits i had laying around. I mounted the Nurgle Banner on his back and green stuffed a ton of lesions on it. The only thing i wish i had done was replaced the bolter with a heavy flamer. I am trying to include as much flamers as possible as i know i will have a hard time with hordes. They will of course have to be resculpted to resemble plague spouts of some kind. All in good time though.

Thanks. I noticed a few posts about the lack of painting on the eyes of the plauge marine. Just an oversite. I will fix that soon. Cant wait to get started on my landraider and terminators. Any thoughts on the build i should use for my termis.

i just figured out how to use the different lighting settings on my camera. heres a pic of one of my first plague marines. sculpted and modified him out of the Dev box bits left over from my ultras.
