I've had some Death company lying around for a while now because i've never been that interested in painting them. I want to paint them how they are on the box but im stuck on how i should paint them exactly. I've primed them all Black because thats the colour they are going to be but what i'm stuck on is the highlighting.. I've tried highlighing them with Codex grey (very light highlight) and it just makes them look rather silly. Does anyone have any better tips on how i could paint them?

Thanks

Either darken down the codex by mixing some chaos in, or try Shadow grey instead for a bluer highlight tone.

I found doing one highlight with 50/50 shadow and chaos then doing a second thinner highlight over with just shadow looks pretty nice.

And you may want to blend your colors when you highlight, it makes the highlights loook far better then just the brightest color from the start.

I use Adeptus Battlegrey. It's a lot darker than Codex Grey, but noticeably lighter than black.

It's dealing with Privateer Press models but the same techniques can be applied to any black area of a model.
