Hey all (apologies, this isnt 100% strictly Painting and Modeling). Currently trying to decide between Tau and
IG for my
40K army. The only real thing stopping me from choosing the Tau is that their back story rubs me up the wrong way - all that "greater good" boy scout rubbish. So... I decided to create my own part of Tau Empire history, and came up with the Aun Kauyon Cadre.
The idea behind it is that these Tau soldiers work to expose and eliminate corruption within the Empire, specifically corrupt Ethereals.
Anyway, I wanted to give these guys a bit of a meaner look as the current Tau Fire Warriors are a little dorky.
The main change was cutting off the protruding part of the helmet and then drilling a 2mm hole, followed by a 1mm hole within that hole. I also shortened the length of the pulse rifle and stuck the antenna onto the backpack. These modifications were inspired by a Tau
FW I saw on another
WH forum. I also stuck a few bits like scopes/straps/
IG grenades etc on for a bit of character. If the mods look a bit scrappy its because these were already assembled Fire Warriors that I cut to pieces and then re-stuck. I will update this thread when I get my new box and some paints - hopefully have some tanked up, Ethereal whacking Tau for you to see/flee from
