Crusader squad of 5 (80)

=90pts

Crusader squad of 5 (80)
-Plasma cannon (+20)
=100pts

TOTAL: 1500pts

Let's see what I have for 1500 pts. Emperor's champion in Razorback with small templar squad, armed to face enemy in cc. Close to my Razorback, I probably field rest of my footslogging templars. Thats my right wing. In center of table, I deploy my Land Raider and one of templar squads. Land raider is my shock unit. It can give fire support for both of my flanks, or charge forward with 5 lightning claw terminator inside. Thats enough to destroy anything your opponent can bring against your army. Usually best use for their hitting power is to make counter-charge against your opponents hard hitting elite unit. After all, with this center piece in your army, you have hitting power to support advancing of both of your flanks. Then to the left wing. My fire support units. Two pearls in BT list, most of people don't approciate enough. Venerable dreadnought with Lascannons, missile launcher and tank hunter skill. S10 twin-linked lascannon combined with S9 missile launcher. Put it into cover and you have unit with murder class firepower agains any vehicle. It is also very hard to destroy (combine cover and venerable). With my dreagnought, I like to play my terminator squad with assault cannons. S7 rending in squad of terminators is a killer! It really is. You have 67% of chance to make a hit for landraider, and 2/3 of those are penetrating. Who said that templars can't shoot? My list consists enough firepower to wound landraider class vehicle almost twice a round.

Summary: I use four units of templars. It is very important to field as many scoring units as possible in your tournament army. Best thing in templars is that they are so versatile. My four units have weapons to destroy almost anything they can face, and enought cc power to hack in pieces any standard, not specialised cc unit. They also got staying power to keep their ground when it's time for defence. Rest of my army is for support. It is always. Never count on non-scoring units to win a game. My landraider and cc terminators is here to get rid of my enemys super units. It can destroy (or cripple) at least one unit per battle. If not, you are stupid or very unlucky. With lascannons, it can bring your enemy pain every turn it is on the table. Use it to destroy their targets transport, wait until your opponent makes that flustrated charge against your meaningless unit and unleash the pain. Thats their job. If they kill more, it is good, but usually they dont. Thats because most of thr time, they front so much hate after charging, that rest of your army is safe for a while. As last, but not least, I have my devastator wing. Basic Terminators and dreadnought. Enought firepower to wound land rider once a round. I think thats enought for any army. You can deep strike your terminators, but it really depends on situation. Usually it is good to deploy those on to the table and start slow advancing with assault 8 s7 rending firepower (don't forgot those bolters, they can glance rhinos front armour). Most of time they are here just to get noticed and suck enemys moster unit into trap. Only to get charged by your own assault terminators.

Thats my kind of templars. I can make small changes for free, to adjust against different kind of armies. Using missile launchers in templar squads makes them more usefull against most of armies. My list is specialised for killing deathwing. I also like to play small deep striking assault squads with plasma pistols and meltabombs. Could consider using LRC or deep strike terminators to put my Champion into LR. Full sloggers are another day, and I'm preparing to face my friends with something like it... But thats another story, like I said!

About list modifications.

I just made my second conversion of Razorback, and might test play it instead of templar squad with multi-melta. Sometimes it could be better option to switch razorback to a rhino, and use those saved 40pts to assault squad.
