Hey guys, first proper post on these boards other then in the intro section. This is my first conversion WIP, from the AoBR set. So far so good, but I'm looking to get opinions on what else to add re: a second CCW and the dakka (aiming for ork dreadnought, though I might make it counts as warboss in non-competition games).

The ideas I'm rolling around in my head are either the right arm being converted fully into another similar style claw, with 2 shootas on the shoulders. Alternatively, I can leave the dakka on the left arm (orkified of course) and try and add another CCW arm elsewhere. Of course no matter what the structural differences, the whole goshdarn contraption will have sufficient spikes, glyphs and panels all over. I also plan to 'wire' the pilots head into the walls of his cabin once i get some appropriate guage wire.

Thanks,

Mike

EDIT: Got my lefts and rights mixed up!

looks good, other than just some orkifying, i think you should remove the "dreadnought fingers" before attaching the "ork claws", the last picture shows how akward the "claws" look just glued on there.

You love it you slags!

Yeah, those pictures were taken immediately after the 'claws' were put in place. I thought the exact same thing, but unfortunately when I got it the dreadnought had its hand assembled/glued, and I wasn't able to get a knife in to cut the original fingers away without mangling the hand (I'm yet to be able to afford a dremel ). Since that was the case, I've added 'bolts' and rivets to the joins between the claws and original fingers, and I'm satisfied it looks sufficiently 'orky' and not wholly ridiculous. Thanks for the suggestion!

So a quick update showing the work I've been doing on the second CCW for my dreddy. The first picture is just showing the nuts/bolts I added on the dreadnought fingers to attach the 'claws'. I think it looks alright like this, and I intend to paint them a different metallic to the claws to distinguish them a bit.

I really liked the circular saw that a lot of custom dreads have been equipped with, but my own limited ability (and tools) meant a 'standard' sawblade with regular teeth is a bit tough to make on this scale, so instead I went with the 'orkier' alternative; a disc with sharpened spikes! The chain and pulley-thing was taken from the Trukk wreckin' ball assembly, with a bit of carving/sanding/drilling to make it look like a freewheeling disc. The pole on the back is part of an exhaust, also taken from the Trukk kit. The arm mechanism itself is a spare from a set of Killa Kans (the rokkit arm). The plan is to cheat a bit and make a cover for the exposed missing links of chain, as making a curved chain look decent will be an extremely difficult task.

As always C&C welcomed/encouraged!

That's a lovely saw arm. Very nice execution!

Deff Dread primarily, but I'll prob be rocking it as my warboss when I have the opportunity to (the eventual plan is to have magnetised big shootas on the shoulders)

So I hit a bit of a roadblock earlier with the buzzsaw arm, unable to decide how to 'attach' the chain to the rest of the arm. Because of that I was inspired to potter through my bitz box and whip up some very simple objective markers, as the group I game with are currently using bottlecaps in their stead.

The first picture pretty much shows it as it is. Number 2 and 4 in that line are fairly simple, with just bits and bobs positioned around to look like a small Imperial Guard weapons cache and supply cache. Number 1 and 3 required only a tiny bit more effort, with an unlucky Imp Guard cadian losing his feet so I could position a lasgun and helmet atop a pair of boots, with bedroll behind, creating a fairly traditional tribute to a fallen soldier as an objective. The grot (taken from a stormboyz kit) had a stikkbomm removed from his hand and an ammo box under his other to stabilise him. The tricky part was carving out part of his ankles to make him stand up straight, but not having any greenstuff to fill in the gaps. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, and that they took less than 10 minutes each it was a nice distraction from the modeler's block i was suffering from.

After some anonymous message board help (seemingly from someone from the dakka, tripcode-name Ekoi from memory?), i settled on a small pulley-to-guard option that this helpful person offered up. It looks a little shiny in the pictures, but thats from the ultrathin layer of glue that coats certain fiddlybitz. Next is figuring out where to put shootaz/rokkitz!
