Hi everbody!

I just realised that it has been over two months since I posted pictures in the modeling section, so I decided I had to take action. That's why I'm doing exactly that, what usually peaks my wargaming activity: working on several armies at once!

Number 3 on my list: I really want to get into Fantasy again. Or, to be more precise: I want to put more work into my Pirate-themed Ogre army. There are so many great theme-armies out there and I want to make one too. This will involve a lot more converting than I did so far and the paintjob needs improving too, but I already have a few ideads, one of them involving a burning beard for my new Commander.

Jup, they're Confrontation minis. I need to find out if I can get any more of those from somewhere.

Cool, after seeing your skills with the mortarion model I have high hopes for your pirates.

Are you going to go further with the crab claws and tentacles and such, like a pirates of the carribean? I saw you added a claw to one of the ogres there or was that part of the original?

Love the idea and the work so far. I demand more parrots (or a Gnoblar dressed as a parrot) and a Leadbelcher wearing a dress. Why? I don't know but it would be a laugh and probably more scary than a 'standard' Ogre. As for the flamingbeard idea that would look awesome. Consider me subscribed!

I don't think so. Mad Black Belly up there was supposed to be the exception, there are even magical items in the OK book that fit him perfectly. Maybe I'll get back to it if I ever do that special monster unit, I forgot what it's called.

Hey Rama , have you seen these?

With a bit of GS they may work as ogres

Yeah, I love those heads, but I'm still not sure how much I can convert with the regular infantry.

So, I got the model for my Tyrant so I can finally build that model I had in my head for a year or so.

Here's the plan: I will use this guy

To make something that looks like a combination of him

...and him

Basically, a big Ogre Pirate with a flaming beard, which he makes himself to terrify his enemies. Let's get this thing started.

i wanna see i wanna see!that would look awsome! you might want too consider an ogre (possibly bsb) that looks like jack sparrow from curse of the black pearl. that one shot that he arives at the port in a sinking ship and only the mast is still out of the water. can you imagine a big ogre standing on a tiny piece of wood the sail could be your standard

So, I'm still working on the main torso. Somehow I misplaced the belly plate from the Ninja ogre I had lying around. I was hoping I could it on my new captain, but now that I'm looking at it online it's not that bad, because the ninja ogre's armor is full of other crap as well.

Here's pic of the Ninja Ogre (not mine)

Then a thought struck me: Can I build an Ogre army completly without belly plates? Some of the metal minis actually have a real belly modeled and you're supposed to glue the part on top of it. The plastic troops will be a real pain, but that might motivate me to search for minis from other sources then GW.

Another problem I encountered with this model are the arms. My current plan is put the sword I still have left from the pirate Ogre model in his left hand, it looks appropiatly pirate-y enough. But the other arm is really bugging me. I have no Ork Warboss arms left, but I don't want to use that stupid ball and chain either. Then there's the question what to give him as main weapon. I'm considering just taking the two swords from the Ninja's backside.

That was me, typing about my minis while I actually should be working.

Tell me about I am at work at the moment , should really open the store sometime

I think your GS skills are definitely up to filling in the holes left by the gutplate, just don't forget the belly button!

Oh yeah an I put my vote in for a sinking ship standard as well.

Yes, this project still exists.

So I finally got around to work with this guy. I spend a lot of time trying to come up with a good replacement for the right arm. At one point I considerd using an Ork Warboss arm with a Playmobil pirate gun, but thankfully I realised how stupid that would look. Then I had another idea. I still had a Blood Bowl Ogre lying around, but I wasn't too sure what to do with the arm, because it had such an awkward pose. Then I turned it around and got an idea:

This is kind of new ground for me. He's not wielding a weapon in every hand and is now basically just standing there. Not even poiting and yelling. On one hand, this gives him an aura of confidence I rarely see in Fantasy Wargaming Minis. On the other hand I'm not sure if the pose will still work once I get around to model him the burning beard I had planned.

After some searching I also found the perfect weapon for him. A blade from a Confrontation Ogre which is a suitable stand-in for a Cathay longsword and now I won't have to rip off the swords from my Ninja Ogre.

And, last but not least, I finally jumped over my shadow and tried modeling him a pirate hat. What do you think?

Shaping up nicely, I think the pose will be great, hands on hips burning beard jutting out

"yeah my beard is on fire, so what?"

I have just ripped of the two guns of my Mutant Ogre. It looked pretty cool, but when it comes down to it, it was also pretty stupid. But I had another idea: you know how some Empire technicans have those guns with mutliple barrels on one pistole grip. I want to build a multibarreled musket for this guy, to explain the "brace of handguns" altough he only has one hand.

Thought I should give you guys a small update. I like the pose and the hat is pretty much done. Now come the difficult parts: sculpting the belly, belt and pants and then the flamming beard.

Oh man, my Blight Drone almost made me forget about this Thread. While watching another Doctor Who episode yesterday night, I did some more work on the two characters.

I gave Mad Black Belly one of his guns back, but I converted it a little. It's not a "brace of handguns" but I like the look of it. I also redid the tentacle beard.

The other one, I'm not so sure about. I love how the overall model turned out. The two guns and the bombs make him look really bad-ass, but I'm not sure anymore if I can pull of the burning beard thing.
