Well i wanna start an IG army with Pig iron heads (covered heavy infantry) and G36c's. However I want to be sure I can complete the conversion and have come across the issue of the let hand. Cadians as you know have the left hand attached to the las gun but in order to put the g36 on you need an empty hand... do you see my problem. So if an of you guys have any tips on what to o please post. Thanks. BTW i got the g36c's of hassle free minatures.co.uk

There are actually a lot of open left hands. Not only is there the left hand that's just sticking out to go with the lasgun with the bayonet, but there are also several from the heavy weapons sprue. That or make them with GS (tough but doable).

Just cut away the grip from the gun, and cut the lasgun away from the left arm, perhaps?

I used Hasslefree's CAD guns for my Guard and had to create a bunch of open hands. IF you don't mind chewing up the lasguns you can create open hands relatively easily from the weapon arms. My method was to trim the lasgun just in front and behind the hand. You can then use a pin vice to drill through the remaining Lasgun foregrip. This provides a curved surface on the hand and allows you to easily trim the hand away from the gun.

Its a bit fiddly, but you do end up with a good usable hand. The other problem I ran into is that Hasslefree guns are more realistic in scale and therefore the standard Guard arms are a bit wide for them. You might need to re-arrange the rifle supporting arm to bring the open hand a bit closer to the mag well.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Thanks for the tips, I am short of a pin vice as my old one broke but I could use something else, if not then maybe GS

You don't absolutely need a pin vice, it just makes the trimming easier.

The stocks might be an issue too. At least the G36c has a folding stock, so if you get stumped on any of them you could always cut them off, 'fold' them 180 deg, and stick them to the right side (outside).

They're often used with a vertical foregrip too, so you could use any clenched left hands you got laying around for this. Might help solve any LH grip issues that surface.

I was planning to leave the IG lasgun stocks on, a bit like the catachan arms and cut off the stocks, wont really make a huge impact. But thanks for the folding stock idea, I was gonna put a few on peeps backs (u know heavy weps teams etc), if i folded the stocks that should look cool

Might be worth, fellow Pompey dweller, grabbing some catachan left arms from a bits site and nipping off the hands. I was lucky and managed to buy 20x cadian full left arms from ebay last year but it is a massive pain having most of the arms unusable if you want to convert. The mould designer is a bloody sadist!

IG - Vestfalian Expeditionary
Force (Solar Auxilia - HH)
SM - Blades of Inaros (Homebrew)

Thanks, my m8 has a massive catachan army so i will bitch to him for some left hands. One thing i was thinking was to use clentched fists at a verticle angle to simulate a "verticle grip" this could work if I have a shortage of open hands. And yes POMPEY RULES
