So upon browsing through Tyranid forums earlier I stumbled across Mark Hofmann's Tyracrons (Which are utterly astounding if you've never seen them before), more specifically, his General Grievous conversion. I'm a huge fan of the look he achieved on the carapace and I was wondering if anyone knew what technique he used. It looks like a brown base and with a heavily drybrushed bone/white layer over it, but that's more of a guess than anything.

Here's a link to the color I'm trying to immitate

For reference.

Looks to be a beige colour that has had a lot different washing done to it to have the mottled weathered looks and then the primary colour has been retouched up.

it's a carnifex mated with a guard sentinel. I don't know where the lightsabres come from.

He's talking paint, Ailaros. Lots of dirty brown washing and drybrushing i'd say. It looks like he did most of the highlights with drybrushing.

Yeah it looks like a pretty simple wash and drybrush job to me.

I'm guessing first Badab Black / Devlan mud, then Gryphon Sepia... then the drybrushing... perhaps Deneb stone and then bleached bone? The Sepia could have been done after the drybrushing also.
