I am currently in the process of doing my first ever Space Ork conversion - I am using the Space Marine Dreadnaught from the AOBR box set and am going to convert it into a Ork Deff Dread.

I will be using bits from a broken Ork Trukk and various other spare parts I have lying around.

I am looking for advice from others who have already converted models for ork armies to give me tips on how to make it more 'Orkie'

Hope anyone can help me.

After getting the main pieces together, I'd just stick a couple of plasticard 'plates' across the hull to make it look like its been blown up and rebuilt a couple of times.

I am thinking of scavaging the front armour of the broken ork truk that goes in front of the engine and using that to cover up the SM Sacoficus (sp) on the SM Dreadnaught and also cover the space marine icons on there as well - I was also looking at another conversion that utiliised the swinging ball weapon of the ork trukk for the second close combat weapon - but another conversion had two buzz saw blades on one army that seemed interesting.
