Hi guys ^^

Recently I bought myself the chaos termie lord/sorceror and have painted him up....kinda.
I've painted him, but he doesn't look right, I need to wash the main armour plates....but I'm not sure which wash to use as they are painted with necron abyss, I've tried asurmen blue and badab black, but they just change the colour of the armour without adding any kind of shading....could someone please help? ^^

If a black wash changed the color without adding depth your doing it on wrong.

Take a small round brush and wash over the recesses first then do a quick once over on the other areas to tie the colors in. After that go back with a clean slightly damp brush and soak up any pools left on flat areas and highlights.

Also if you want another color suggestion you should tell us what color you painted your model, or post a picture (much better option)

Unfortunately i can't post pics as i need to hae batteries for my camera to do that, but i can say how it is painted so far.

I base coated it black then painted necron abyss onto all of the armour plates, i then painted all of the trims etc with shinning gold, aplying a badab black wash to the whole model afterwards, then i applyed a wash of asurmen blue to the blue parts of the model to bring back some of the blue colour....but atm the "blue" still looks REALY dark.

Hope this helps you to help me ^^

Maybe you could hilight the plue parts to make them lighter, try using a 1:1 mix of skull white and the blue that you used for the hilight colour

No pity!
No remorse!
No fear!

Make sure your wash is shaken up before using it, and use a wet brush when applying it.

Thanks for all the tips and ideas guys, but i hae a couple of problems.
1. No skull white to make lighter colours with

2. I can't highlight

*sigh* ^^

Pick up your brush, apply either Mordian Blue or Ultramarines blue to the edges of the blue parts in a thin line. Voila! You have just highlighted! Also, I would recommend not using the black wash on the blue parts. That's what is making the blue so dark. Just use the blue washes on the blue bits.

well assuming you only have one blue, and a black wash you still can highlight.

What you will need to do is hit the model with the wash 3-4 times then highlight with the blue you started with.
