Seriously you should do an whole army in that colour. Especially as that a more realistic yellow, rather than the usual Mr Happy yellow we normally see. ( No offense to anyone with a Mr Happy yellow marine army)

I personally like the bionic leg just the way it is. And yes, yellow is a pain in the ass, but the end product looks like it will be worth it if you go forward.

Nice blending and shading. Yellow is not easy to paint. The model will look even better when you have drilled the barrels of the storm bolter ; )

He looks awesome. When I did these guys I pretty much did the same thing. Started with brown and worked my way up to yellow. Took ever, but yellow when done right looks good.

A lovely paint job. I'm honestly too lazy to paint in that many layers, so I only use colours that can hide my laziness (more than yellow anyway).

The conversion and pose are very good. Your work basically represents where I want to be in a few years as far as skill and composition.

Top notch sir.

EDIT: Oh and drill out those barrels.

Drill holes in the Storm Bolter. Also, I probably would have gone with a different hair color. Having it the same color as the armor increases the overpowering "yellowness" of the model. Other than that, I love it.

I was just asking because if you spray painted him yellow before doing all the other steps that you did to make him look that good, maybe it wouldn't be as frustrating.

Man... I wish I could be as bad as you. From the looks of things you have liberally used washes, and it looks fantastic. Not the sunshine-yellow Imperial Fists I'm sick of seeing; more like the totally-badass-I've-been-fighting-for-three-months-straight Imperial Fists that the Sons of Dorn were meant to be.

Why is yellow so hard to paint anyway?

That's to do with the lack of opacity in the pigment.
Not just with GW paints - most yellow paints have this issue.

To get a decent SOLID colour requires many layers, all of which have to be thin, and it takes forever with washing and shading and blending and all of the rest of it.

Airbrush FTW. Please try to paint yellows with an airbrush, and you will be very happy with the outcome. Trust me.

But really, they look quite nice as it is. Great job!
