Im looking to customize some a blood chalice or 4 for some Sanguinary Priests. I was wondering if anyone else has customized these and what they used for the Blood Chalice. Im fair at customizing things out of plastic, but am poor at figuring out where to start from. Ive seen the cup from Space hulk used, so that one is obvious, Im looking for a cheaper alternative. So help me out, what have you used to customize the blood chalice?

Before seeing the tack idea, I found an old tank wheel (Probaly from an old Russ) and decieded to start making it into a chalice. I drilled a hole in the top and sanded all details off of it. All I have to do is fashion a bottom and add some bling to it.

Imo the tacs are just way too big.

Maxmini.eu makes a kit that has chalices in it...
http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=56

Their quality control is no so good, but their customer service is better heh. Anyway I bought several of those and they look great.

You could also chop the arm off brother Corbulo.

Like I said, it's rough but I'm going to put alot of detail on it.

I molded mine from epoxy putty. NOT green stuff. The cheapie stuff you buy in hardware stores to fix leaking pipes. It cures HARD. I formed it as kind of a big oblong slug and then carved it into shape with a dremel

edit - it's actually made in two pieces and pinned through the hand with a paperclip. Then green stuffed the gap around the pin and the joint at the hand. Carved a couple of large blood drops into the outside with an engraving bit and the inside is hollowed out.

edit again, more pics

Gunzhard, do you have any pictures so we can see the size comparison? Because that lego idea sounds and looks like it would be great, but if they are going to be awkwardly big, Id reconsider.

The thumbtack idea sounded awesome, but I agree that it's way too big, and the lego ones are just crazy big. If you really don't want to start from scratch, I'd say maybe get the little martini glass lego piece (the clear one) and dremel the cup part down to be shallower, then GS around to round out the bottom.

Whats the Shipping like for the maxmini stuff into the US?

Just looked at my online receipt... the shipping was 4.52 pounds or euros or whatever unit of currency they use. So with even the worst conversion rates, I'd say it's not bad... and I ordered a lot of stuff from them in that order.

My brother used the bowls of fire on this: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440105a&prodId=prod1050079

They come on sprues, so he cut the fire off and used green stuff for the handle.

I can check if I have another bowl form it.

Probably too big for your tastes, but in a pinch two Marine shouldpads glued together will work.

Any other suggestions here? Anyone find any new SM sized chalices that are cheap? I dont want to spend ~$30 at maxmini for a bunch of chalices.

If you aren't actually playing blood angels, a possible idea is to use something as "counts as"? I run my army with a BA codex but I use converted medics as priests.

Yeah, I am going to be running standard Blood Angels, so I kind of want the chalices.

I'm putting together x2 Sanguinary Priests in Terminator armour with power swords and blood chalices to accompany brother Corbulo.

I was a bit stumped with the chalices and when i saw the thumb tac idea in this thread I went digging through my junk draw trying to find some of them.
I had none but I did find some screws which appear to be the exact same size as brother Corbulo's actual chalice.

Was thinking some filing, a little green stuff and some detail work and they would be perfect.
