Hi everyone! I just purchased a bottle of the aforementioned Vallejo gel stuff for a =][= Munda project my friends n' cousins are starting up. My models are on larger, decorated bases and I'd like to use the water effects to create sewer-sludge-like water, but as I've never used it before, I was wondering if anyone had any pointers?

I'd like to make the water a greenish-black murk with a brown tint, if possible... not the standard milky-brown water... not something akin to crude oil... but a look like you just spilled that iridescent green coolant and it started to mix with black crude oil. I'm probably going overboard with this... Let me start over.

Does anyone have any tips as to what to use for coloring the the water effects? Inks? Paints? (I use GW type) Any DOs and DONTs tips out there? Any help would be appreciated.

Once I start getting it down, I'll be able to start something here to show you what we've made!

Thanks in advance!

A quick googling returned the link below, key message is that they say that inks will tint it... I would assume you would need to do the black first, then if you drip some of the green over top you could sorta swirl it in (I'm imagining how you make a marble cake) with a toothpick or something. Swirl it around, but don't mix it.

Yea, I saw that one earlier too... It's basis, but I was hoping for a bit of insight from the Dakka community.

I was thinking maybe there'd be someone(s) here who had used it before and had some knowledge to pass on...

Orki's insight - Experiment first and see what works for you basically. You can mix stuff into it, paint over it, poke it around while it sets, whatever. Just get stuck in on a few practice bits and 'learn' the workability of the material.
