Hi, I am currently about to make my imperial guard army, and have come up with a colour scheme, but I need some critique for it. So far, I am considering running the one pictured, but I was wondering what people thought, how to make the camo regimented and easy to do with each one, and whether I should switch the camo for grey fatigues instead.
For the scheme I currently have, I was thinking of changing the shadow grey to ice blue.
I'd also like some ideas of how I'd do the tanks.
Please note, I am no means an amazing painter, so tips to improve the minature are welcome. He isn't finished (needs the base finished, boots need to be done), but is pretty much 90% done.
"tanks" (sorry) in advance.

That looks pretty good. I would stick with the camo scheme. You'll find that it takes ages the first time you do it, but when you start mass-producing guardsment you'll get much faster. Personally I think the time taken is worth it. For the tanks, check out the GW website for a whole range of camo ideas. Alternatively google for modern camo schemes. A simple grey basecoat with heavy white drybrushing, as if its covered in frost, might look quite good here, but white is a bugger to get right

I'm struggling with the boots, how would I highlight them?

The pic is a little blurry on the boots, but I think they look pretty good as-is. Dark boots would always be a little lost in the snow due to the difference in reflectivness (reflectivity?reflectingness?). I would tend to just do a dark grey drybrush and maybe some white for adhered snow as you've done.

Good job on the camo scheme. If you think you'll want to keep it up over the whole army, I definitely say go for it. Simple coloured fatigues are easier to paint, but camo done well is worth the work.
One small thing that stands out to me is the colour of the armor plating. I think it would suit the camo scheme more if you went with a grey similar to the mid-tone of the camo. Then you could carry over the same camo colours to your vehicles and everything would match up well.
As for the boots, it's hard to tell from the pic, but if they're just straight black, I'd go for a regular old grey highlight.

What sort of grey do you suggest? I very light one, such as astronomican grey? that does sound like it would look good, and white is a pain in the ass to paint. How would I highlight it, and make it look good? Should I also change the base colour of the fatigues to white or keep it as it is if i make the main colour for the armour grey?

Ok, I was thinking about this over the day, and I was thinking of changing it to be like this
Body armour, shoulders, helmet, gun and boot guards, as astronomican grey or a similar light colour
Boots and chainswords Chaos Black
Now with the main camo scheme, I'm not sure. If its going to be grey on the armour, wont it look a little boring if the camo scheme has the same base colour, or should I change it to a white base?

You could go astronomican grey for all the armor, and then highlight it white. That way it keeps the same basic color throughout the model but everything still kinda stands apart? I dunno man, I'm just picturing this in my head.

Lovely snowy camo scheme, and from the picture looks very well done..
I would stick with this scheme throughout the Force, Grey sounds like a good idea to tie the tanks in...
