I finally got some pics up let me know what you think. I've also moved this thread from the List Forum to the Painting and Modelling Forum I hadn't painted seriously in almost a decade and this is the second squad I've painted. (The first was an attempted touch up of some marines from 2nd/3rd ed. that I I'm not crazy about but I'll post some of these later.)


Thanks for the help on the previous list. I've come pretty close to painting my initial 1000pts force and have a couple of things I can paint to add on. (I'll get some pictures up and maybe start a WIP) Any thoughts on what to add in my next 500 pt block? Like I said earlier I started way back with second edition and stopped playing regularly right as 4th edition came out. I'm looking for an all comers list, to get back into the hobby. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My initial list is as follows (i've done the math and the actual list of of what I have painted up is about 1000 pts so if you notice a nit here or there and the points are slightly off, its because I don't have the official list handy.)

Initial list:

Captain - Power Axe Jump Pack Combii melta
Jump Pack, Crozius, Inferno Pistol

2x Sanguinary Priest 1: 160pts
Jump Pack


Jump Squad 1
Sarge with a Power fist
2 flamers

Jump Squad 2
Sarge with Power Fist
2 Meltas

Ball Predator
Total = 1000 pts. I think I have it written down somewhere.

Where I need help is what to build/ touch up next. I could use some advice on what to add to the list to make it 1500 pts.

The following is not built:

Space Hulk Termies x 2 sets
Sanguinary Guard kits
3 Landspeeder Tornado kits
1 Whirlwind kits
about enough for 15 or more death company.
2 boxes of assault marines
Lemartes unassembled/unpainted
Captain Leonatos (the black library edition)
Dante in Blister
Sanguinor in Blister

The following is painted reasonably well, but needs final highlights/basing/other touch ups:

4 tactical squads two missile launchers two flamers, one las cannon 1 plasma (can add another heavy of my choosing from bits)
3 rhinos
1 3 bike squad
1 assault bike

Nice and clean painting! I think you could add some kind of symbols to their shoulder pads. But nice work mate!

Thanks. Some of the older stuff has the shoulder pad markings I'll be getting the transfers up soon hopefully and then finishing the bases.

Yep... those are definately blood angels. Now on to the most important parts of any miniatures: the bases.

I'm glad you said that, I didn't want anyone to confuse them with Salamanders; haha. Am working on the bases now. Nothing special. Just getting them tabletop ready. As I go forward though I'll be putting some more work into bases. Next up Some Space Hulk Termies.

nice painting...washes make everything look better

Allright so I finally completed a test run on a land speeder a couple of things I notice only after viewing the photos is that the undercoat missed a few spots that aren't visible from normal viewing angels I will try to correct going forward but let me know what you guys think.

I notice you filled the hideous gaps on the jump packs.

I notice you have 2 sets of the Space Hulk Terminators listed. As they are very distinctive models, I would stick one set on ebay and use the profit to finance something else. Sanguinary Priests, perhaps, or a Librarian?

Here's another question? Have I done enough for this vet to pass as a librarian. I have only modest skills with converting/putty but thought I would create a force weapon and a psychic hood with some wiring. Thoughts?

I think thats enough to pass as a Librarian. I might try and and make the hood look a little bit more distinctive, but otherwise its ok. I would change that hand tho. Looks a little outta place.
