Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend a good colour scheme for snow-based warriors of chaos undivided? If you could suggest colours for my chaos warriors` armour, armour trim, cloaks, fur and leather; or better still post some pictures of your models, I`d be very grateful. I`d like to avoid "black and red" - used on my Undead - and "blue and yellow" - planning on painting my Empire guys as Nordlanders. I use Citadel paints.

Thanks in advance,

A.

PS Apologies for lack of pics, but the only winter-themed WoC I`ve seen are those in the Army book, none of which are really what I`m after.

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

Use primary/spray base: white, and secondary metallic: chainmail/non metallic: codex grey

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

England, west midlands

So you want the colour scheme to make them stand out as being from a snowy climate ? I think the basing would be the best way to do that give them a nice snowy base. As for colours colours I would go for some light metallics with a blue wash to give that cold feel to the armour maybe chainmail with asurmen blue to give it a nice tint to it highlighted with mithril silver. It might be a bit light for chaos worriers but would give a nice cold look combined with white/grey furs and cloaks.

Thanks for the advice so far, guys. I think Listrel touched on my main concern here - in coming up with a scheme which suggests coldness, you can run the risk of going too light and ending up with miniatures which look washed out and lack that sense of brooding menace. On the other hand, go too dark and grungy and you end up unable to distinguish any details.

The warriors which Sluggaslugga posted strike a nice balance between these two extremes, and are heading in the direction of what I`m hoping to convey.

Please keep your suggestions coming, they`re much appreciated.

Make them a bit like norse warriors with dark grey/brown furs, full metallic armours, Diffirent kinds of shields (or same shields diffirent logos/runes painted on them), dark grey lethear.
Give them a bit of this feeling:

I like the idea of using darker greys and browns to help break up the metallics and add more menace to the Chaos warriors and avoid making them seem too bright.

When I first thought of Fantasy Chaos in winter, the first thing that popped into my head was how the vikings looked in the movie Pathfinder. Not a great movie, but it might be worth checking for some reference material from it.
