Subject: Blissgiver on Chaos Lord: Need Conversion Help

So I just got my Chaos Terminator Lord box in the mail and was originally going to give him Lightning Claws but have decided to scrap that idea and want to give him the Daemon Weapon Blissgiver instead. I may magnetize his arms so I can switch out the combi-melta and the Blissgiver arm with the LC, but that is a completely different story.
I was curious if anyone had any conversion ideas, past experiences, or even just any bitz ideas on how to make the Daemon Weapon "Blissgiver". In the codex it, it's described as either a whip or a long slender blade; however, like all daemon weapons, looks may vary. In fact I wanted to go with something more like a halberd/polearm with a large wicked blade at the end.
To build this halberd/polearm of Blissgiver, I thought I'd use the staff that comes in the box, cut off the eye end of it and replace it with a blade of Slaaneshi feeling. Problem is, I've been looking throughout all of my spare bitz and can't seem to find anything that looks like, or would combine with something else to look like, what I'm trying to make.
Any ideas out there? Keep in mind I'm not opposed to using green stuff, just that I'm not very good at it.

What about using some of the dark elf corsair blades? they are pretty elegant and slaaneshi looking. Failing that how about scratchbuilding one from a sheet of p-card?
On another note, if the staff looks like it is being swung, and not just leant upon, why not model it as a sort of spear, but the head is a sword-blade attached by a length of chain?

OMG!
I hadn't thought of that! If I'm picturing this correctly that would be the coolest fusion between a spear and a whip EVER! Why have just one sword-blade swinging! Hell I'm sure I could get 3 hanging off of it!
It was going to be in just his left hand, but on a very long pole, but it will appear that he is moving forward so they could still be dangling at an angle/swing.
LOVE the idea dude!
I'll see if I can't find some Dark Eldar Corsair blades online.

I'm imagining a pose like the BA astorath the grim model, with the blades flailing around as he brings them down on his foe! Your suggestion of running with the blades flying about sounds good tho, of course now subscribed to see how this turns out (and will probably use the idea myself in the future!).

I have no past experiences with making a Blissgiver or thinking of how it looks (Used Plague marines), but as an idea, how does the chaos lord holding a miniature copy of the new Dark Eldar codex sound?
Otherwise, if humor isn't the answer I'd recommend greenstuffing tentacles coming from under his shoulder pad (replacing his arm) and topped with the upper body of a daemonette.

So I have primed, assembled and painted everything except the staff (primed at least). I have coming in the mail some Corsair melee weapons and think I'd actually rather want to make a trident out of the staff with chains hanging off of the bottom of circle of the top of the staff and a long chain (a bitz from the Chaos Rhino box) hanging between two hooks on the outer edge of the length of the staff. I plan on making the trident by clipping off all the jagged parts of the "chaos star" at the top of the staff, then replacing the top with two blades perpendicular to the circle, and two more along the edge parallel with it, this would give the trident 4 blades, two making up the mid point, and the two others making up the outer blades. On the remaining area of the circle, I'll attach some chains and single blades to the ends of those chains. I really like how the pose turned out, very Poseidon-ish, as if ready to impale someone below him. I'll post some images of him now, and when I get his Blissgiver finished, I'll post those later on! (warning, low quality camera, but should get the idea across) And I never noticed until now, but does anyone else think the naked Chaos Lord head looks a bit like Patrick Steward? P.S. Please forgive the shoddy paint job; I have tremors and it makes getting to finer detail very taxing! I do use fairly thin (though cheap) paints, and the thinnest brush I could find, but after that, hand/wrist shaking can really make things difficult! Also!: The idea for him holding the new Eldar Codex is hilarious! Unfortunately I'm going for more bad-ass-ery at the moment than humor, otherwise I may have given it a shot! And, I love just about everything about Slaanesh except for the expectancy for tentacles! He/she is the god/goddess of sensation/pleasure/feeling/vanity/greed/etc, and I wanted to go down a more vain route with my army, so was trying to avoid the usual tentacle arm or crab claw. Thanks for the tip though, I may use it for a different model later on!

I always imagined blissgiver as a sleeker chain-sword type weapon.. not 40k chainsword, actual chain/whip sword ala Ivy from soul caliber..
Whoops wrong one.. this one..
It shrinks back down into a normal sword.. youtube her and you'll see.

The look I'm hoping to be the outcome should be similar to Ivy's, no chainsaws here, but lots of blades and bits of blades, just on a longer handle than a one handed short sword. And great image for examples! (I'm well acquainted with Ivy, been playing Soul Calibur since it was in the Arcade) This actually has me wanting to make an Ivy Chaos Lady with wings and Blissgiver as well!

Just about finished with it, I think I like how the weapon came out.
It looks like a warped Trident with chains hanging off of it. I couldn't figure out how to put more chains on without overdoing it, so I settled for two, but I think it worked out alright.

I enjoy looking at conversions of things that I (with time and effort) could duplicate, and I think I might in this case.

The trident is interesting, definitely a take on Blissgiver I've never seen (or thought of) before. I do think you need to turn it into a giant Slaaneshi symbol though, the curve of the blades has that look!

I imagine a long hypodermic needle with a long thin syringe reservoir along the back of a thin blade with the point just sticking out at the end. Add a motor assembly similar to a chain sword and you can inject as much bliss as you want. Or a similar thing but with small tubes pointing out along the blade. Like a more melee Fabius Bile conversion.

Glad you liked the joke. The trident is awesome and very different from the thousands of "Lucius Tentacle Whip" I've seen on Slaanesh Lords.
You don't have to worry about the paint job, just hit it with some washes and you're good to go
Also about that weird brown lighting you were getting. That's the light reflecting off the wood the mini is on, take pics on white non reflective surfaces and BAM no more brown tint.
Sidenote: I LOVE the cape
