Well, as the title suggests, I have converted a Sanguinius model. Now, some of you may be wondering why I havnt used some far and out model such as the Nightbringer, which I know has been used for Sanguinius conversions in the past. Well, mainly because I had no money to spend! So i made him using bits I from my bits box. Probably not as big as he would have been, but I like it all the same let me know whay you think

He's very bling, what paints did you use on the armour? He's very shiny - not a bad thing I just wonder how you got the lustre and shine on the gold.

Thanks. Alot of the that shine is coming of a lamp, so it is not that shiny in reality. I do tin bitz, then several heavy drybrushes of shinging gold. Then wash with Devlan mud. Final fine highlight of shining gold, then a very fine highlight of mithril silver for that tint on the edges

Where'd you get the wings, and the face?

Armies | Orks (2000 - Magna-Waaagh!) - | Blood Angels (1500 - Sylvania Company) - | Dark Eldar - (1500 - Kabal of the Golden Sorrow) - | Salamanders (1000 - Vulkan Ravens) - | Chaos (1500 - Wisdom and Wrath) -

The wings are Bretonnian Pegasus wings, the face is simply a face from the Sanguinary Guard set. The hair is (poorly) sculpted!

I really like your conversion. The only problem I have with it, is it reminds of how terrible the Blood Angel sculpts were

Very creative for sure. The Primarchs are one of my fave fluff parts of 40k

Ye I really like the whole Horus Heresy fluff. I wish forgeworld would bring out some Primarchs, I dont think normal GW sculpts would do them justice!

I like the color but the pain is way to thick. It really shows as a problem on his face and the red 'belt buckle'. Nice job on the wings

i really like this model.

only thing i have with it though is its very dark.

id have thought mebbe (especially with sanguinius) you should probbly make him brighter. enrich the colours dont dull him down. brighter gold, make it shiny. add a mix of yellow in there and throw in some very crisp blood red with varnished finish?

Cheers Besper. Think your right, i will touch him up in the future at some point. Think the wings need to be more white as well

Yeh the wings could use with a touch more white to brighten them up. But just a tiny bit, they're the best part of this model in my opinion.

Armour looks a little grainy as well, might just be the light source though. If it's not then give the metallic paint a good mix before you use it next time.

Also what are you using to do the eyes? It looks like you need a tiny bit more patience when doing them so that they line up properly. I also think the Powerfist looks a little out of place.

But, I'm liking the conversion itself
Would have been a real pain to get those wings to stay on properly.

Haha ye the wings were a bit of a bitch. But ye im happy with it, and I am going to use it as a Commander with jump pack for normal games i knw theres some flaws in the painting but then again, most people have them

LOL... I just got off of your Emperor of Mankind post, and I find this gem. Bravo, Imperial.

I envy you for trying to take on subject matter that I'm too scared to even touch.

I like this reiteration- I've seen several well-painted miniatures of Sanguinus based off of a certain painting or book cover- I'm guessing it's a production piece.

This one is similar in feel, but a total conversion- I dig it. My only criticism would probably be the lack of gemstone blood-drop/tears that I'm used to seeing on all BAs- it gives the Primarch a more illustrious flavor, especially since he's one of the more eye-catching fancy sons of the Emperor.

And with the other Emperor post, I have pics up- feel free to have a look and critique. I love seeing what people see when they look at my work- sometimes I'll model to what the crowd wants to see, and sometimes, I'll do what I want to see- regardless of what other people think. It's YOUR art, buddy. If they like it, fantastic. They don't? Well, that's jus too bad, isn't it.

Cheers to your Sanguinius, and your Emperor! Again, two subjects I like but am too scared to touch...

Cheers man. I think if I can, in future I might go for something more grand for Sanguinius. I do like the nightbringer as a base for it. But at least with this one, he can be fielded as a Captain with jump pack. I dare you too make something your scared of
