Stranded in the dire ouskirts of the galaxy,
the chapter of the Earthangels hold their underground fortress Nova Terra against Xenos from all Species.
Cut from all means of communications and thus supply they fight to an all too near end.
All hopes would seem forsaken for mere men,
but these are Space Marines
and the don´t hope,
the pray to the mighty Emperor und serve him with every breath.

To combat the unrushing hordes of the tyranidien hive situated on their temporary planet "Barren",
the built their fortress Nova Terra deep under the sand and stone of the surface.

In former times they were a small contingent of Marines from the chapter of the Dark Angels.
But due to them beeing stranded on this lost Planet they had to form their own chapter.
They called and redecorated their once proud armor to represent the barren grounds of their new home.
clad in earthen colors they combat a likwise foe who knows no mercy.
The Tyranidien Hive the Earthangels named Basilisk has for now not found out the whereabouts of the chapter fortress.
so long they are still victourious and no clues got to the whereabouts to the alien hive.
so they have to fight forevermore valiant to protect the Emperors holy name in these forsaken lands.
Until the day may come that they all will join the ranks with their former brothers...

This is my chapterbackground of the Earthangels...(more might follow)

here is my color scheme, it is in the flesh far more grittier and a bit mottled...



after i basecoated most models with a primer called "smelly primer" (an old citadelcolor) i used also an old color namend cowl brown. after that there is a verrrry heavy wash of another old citadel color called orc flesh wash...
after that i begin with details...i use mostly just mecharite red for trimmings, kneecaps and the backpacks exausts. i like this color dou thats building up the most. if nothing changes the adversary army called Hive Basilisk will also be painted likewise... i really like the scheme^^

for vernerable or rather veteran/superior models like characters and so on i also use dark angles green to show the special value of the models...
eyes are in scorpien green and the metalics are made with mithril silver. for now i included a light wash of orc flesh or gryphon sepia... sometimes bada black... but thats not something that i would mind changing...

Apothecarius, his color is a bit fairer then the rest but still earthy

first completly scratchbuilt Apothecarius made fro a Spacequest Sergant and with help from Cadian Knifes and a cut up Flamer and Bolter

counts as chaptermaster

my first Dreadnought, maybe i drill the barrels oner day^^

and standing beside him a second one from Spacequest/ Spacecrusade...

and drummroll please, this will be my interpretation of a conversed vernerable Dreadnought, with interchangeable Weaponsoptions...

and my biker squad, one biker ist still to come and a trike as well...


plan is to name every model with a unique name... hope i find the creativity. they should all have a more "rocky/earth"- related name...
i´m open for suggestions^^


this is more or less my first true attempt of an army... more models will follow and i have a rhino and a predator lurking in the shelf...^^

so for now i finish my writing and if someone wants to add comments or critics i´m more than eager to read them and answer if possible.

Not sure about the armour colour, could use another colour for a bit of POP.... but then again, any army using a spacecrusade missile launcher is automatically awesome.

ups is that the missle launcher you see in the second group shot? i know i have rockets on other not shown here models but this model i thought was a count as heavy bolter from spacequest...hmmm

Nice story, i can really imagine your army bunkerd down , using hit and run tactics to survive the Hive fleet. Very inspiring. did you ever play advanced space crusade (Tyranid Attack) I like your army colour , its original and your men are well painted. But space marines using camo... HERESY,
you are showing your age with smelly primer lol. Btw Torture robot is right , in this country space quest was called space crusade, and that heavy bolter was a missile launcher.

Ok, first, really like the painting, background and army, but...are they actually called Earthangles, as in the things that tirangles have three of,, or should that be EarthAngels, as in floaty heavenly beings?

lol back to the future^^ yeah, but i choose the name cause in german it sounds almost as archangels^^ the chief of angels^^

i still have the heavy bolters of this game also, but considered them as pumpguns^^ lol.
and i have still the rocketlaunchers of said edition.
and concerning my age, the smellyprimer i got from a small store in my hood. the were selling warhammer stuff, namly paints for 0.50€ and i bought the whole bunch of 50!!!!! buckets^^

to tell you the truth í will be selling the not be needed stuff on ebay there are paints like polished blue or warlock purple or green wash, many oop paints from old editions of citadel...

you may have a look after 20:30 today for it, i´m called bornlaender on ebay...

p.s how come you read and write english so well.

well my english was in the start in 5 grade so (/&&%/&(/& that my teacher was in despair...
then when the first golf war hit the tv sets and i beeing interessted in marvel comix and mtv i just slipped into the english toungue^^... but still a former other teach told my that i must be someone dyslexic^^ or similar^^.

concerning my washes, well nothing but thin, nono, they are straight from the pot so heavy sometimes that i fear to drown them in the process. but instead they bring so much detail...
firstly i wanted to make a clasic DA army, but they were so flat and without any details. well i want to make a rocketlancher marine the next days or rather the vernerable Dread so i might make a blog youst about this.

ant abot my mother, well she missed a whole lot out on...(intern joke that not even my wife would understand...)

as for the sloppy paintjob, my style involves heavy washes and i will cover this up when washing. also it will give the model somewhat extra texture^^ to get that earthy look i´m aiming for...

Wow i missed this til now, nice work! I like all the stuff on the venerable dread, is that how it comes out of the box?

I think some stone colored things would add some nice variety to you color scheme.

Clothes pegs are what are holding the venerable's weapons.

This is shaping up to be a good chapter. I think adding another color to contrast the earthy dull colors of the chapter to add a little pop to them but other then that they are looking really good.

jeppers, i will add a third color so to say, mecharite red for the trimming and for vernerable units like scriptors or chaplains there will be dark angles green... this will give them a more senior look... and attach them more to there brother of the DA...but in general i don´t want them to pop so much, instead the should more be lurking... i know its not the way of the marines, but as mentioned in the fluff above, they are short on amo and what not so every shot has to count and they have to rely more on hit und run tactics then typical grand stand like normal vanilla marines...

@ neil, jep you should now that the webcommunity is pretty spyfull^^ saw you there and guess what, our not alone when it comes to having problems beeing a morning muffler(thats waht it sound form direct german translation) if i cant have my cuppa tea of earl grey i´m up to no good that day...
your sons made quite a good figure early in the morning, though i still shudder thinking about your british breakfast behavior... stirred and fried eggs to go with toast? or was it bacon...

@crimson : nice to see you here , there will be many more things to see... and about the vernerable dread, its totally kitbashed, there are so manny bits i used that it is difficult to name all, but i plundered a lot of DA conversion sprues i bought on ebay... got a standardcloth and used it between the legs, this will be fun^^

ähhm the clothes pegs i use since the beggining, i use wooden ones because i got the idea the will bond not so easy with the acrylic paint and also with the plastic glue...well as of now i changed to super glue and there goes the security^^ but there still dear to me...also i ude for the dread weapons a special item i highly recomend:
those small pieces you use to hold your wooden boars in the cupboard or other cabinets ... baught in bulk and i also use them in paint pots to stirr them about...very useful...

hello dakka, well it´s finally autum here in good old germany with a hint of things to come...
recently i talked with my wife about our christmas presents we would give to eych other...
to make a long story short it seems she wants to buy me a landraider kit...
so here is the big question: i´m a bit still new to 40k and thats why i have to ask which kit should we buy? the redeemer one or the normal one? i think that the forgeworld kit is out of the question...our limit is pretty far overstretched as it is with a gw kit...
so i will give this as a request for help to fair people...lend me your knowledge^^

i know that the chaos black pretty much obliterated the cowl brown, but this aneffect i want to try to add further textures of used armor kind of look...

well done some detail work, got the dread in metal paint, looks more serious now.
chapter colors where applied and iconography painted...


the main color will be later washed so that this ugly brown wont disturb the eyes any more. cleaned up the balck marks that happend for basecoating for metal paints...

Wow Impressive , this looks the part already. You paint quickly mate. how did you do your gold?

i always basecoat metalics black. then i simply drybrush the metalics... that way my metalics look scratched and worn. maybe i wash it with gryphon sepia, i just go with the flow...^^
