I decided last night to make a new entry for my local gw best painted converted mini. So I thought i would make a different emperor's champion for myself out of the Master of the Arsenal, the banner from Grimaldus's retinue, the Black Templars upgrade sprue, and some green stuff. So here is what i made last night.

Looking good.

Nice to see a different emporers champion, the standard one is over used... Probably because its such a good model though.

Roll on the paint!

Just because I don't care, Doesn't mean I don't understand!

I'm both orderly and rational. I value control, information, and order. I love structure and hierarchy, and will actively use whatever power or knowledge I have to maintain it. At best, I am lawful and insightful; at worst, I am bureaucratic and tyrannical.

Sometimes thats where the problem comes from. I agree its a pretty nice mini, but you see them EVERYWHERE they start to get old.

That character is tasty! It definately could inspire modelers to create an alternative standard bearer in their army! You sir have the vision of a . . . . . wait for it . . . . .visionary

Ill go the other way and say "it has promise". haha. Personally I think the robe in front is too wide (can work for termies though as they're rather wide characters). Also, the folding on the robe looks wrong. Other then that, its perrrrfect.

I see a lot of robes done rather badly. Usually you can get away with whatever you're doing but it is possible to stuff the folds up. Its worth doing a bit of searching on the web on how the robes fold.

Heres a mini I like from CMON, painted by RussianDragon, as an example.

well now that someone mentions it, it does look a little big. But in my defense its my first attempt at making a greenstuff tabard. I saw a video from RetributionAngel explaining how he does it, and thought I would give it a go. Going to try cutting it down or make a new one.

Finally got around to redoing the greenstuff. Decided to add some purity seals to it as well.

Well I had to stop working on him to paint up a gryphon prince for my brother. That and I'm entering him in a contest this weekend, he is almost done so I should be able to get to work painting the champion soon.

Stop using flash when you photograph your minis. Put down a white sheet of paper and use some lamps to get good lighting, then take pictures without the flash and with the macro setting on. You'll get less blown out results.
