So I want to go to Warmachine Weekend at the end of the month. Unfortunately I am a jobless bum so can't buy a ticket, and am not yet really good enough at Warmachine to win a ticket. Conveniently one of my friends at the FLGS has neither of these problems, and won a ticket after he had already purchased one, so now I get to be his modeling minion to get one of his tickets off him. First up on the slate, converting an old Carnivian into a Scythian;

I think the "new" Trygon scytals look really ace, so I'm using a set of those for the Scythian. I've already got all the "easy" work done of pinning the major joints in the metal body, , cutting off the Carni arms and hollowing out the shoulders to make a ball and socket joint for the scytal arms. That arm's not glued in yet, the socket's just tight enough that when angled right the arm will stick lightly in place.

The trick now is softening up the lines on the scytals to better fit the appearance of the legion beasts, covering up the carapace seams with skin, and other such assorted details to all around better blend it. Plus green stuffing in all the gaps. I've currently got a message out to the guy asking if he'd rather have separate arms he can glue in place at the angle/pose of his choosing, or if he wants me to choose and put them in, at which point I can fill/sculpt in the armpits.

Are you going to keep the "Hand" on they sything talon? Thats been kinda my big beef with most of the larger sything talons is that they look more like its just a giant sword they are holding as opposed to an apendage that it grew with.

I'm debating on the hands. I like the size and proportion of the large set of scytals, but yeah, the hand...

Maybe traces the 'fingers' more up and along so they look like massive tendons?

So I thought about it for awhile, just exactly how I wanted to make the talons, and think I've decided on a rather different but cool idea. The plan here is to try to make it look Less like Warhammer stuff (i know, a shocker coming from me) and more something a bit more on the unique side. Still using `Nid parts of course, because that's what I've got on hand. The goal is to sculpt in some nice hands behind those talons, in a style similar to the Carnivian's, but with longer claws obviously. The first two fingers/knuckles will be kind of fused into the larger talon, with a third knuckle for the smaller talon, and then a stubby little thumb. Most all of the plastic forearm will end up covered in a big chunk of green stuff.

And again, the arms are not glued on yet, that's just how they'll sit on their own for some good photo shots in relation to the body.

Got one of the hands green stuffed up. I like doing organic stuff much more, less hard lines. The fingers are a bit more defined than on the Carnivian, because I kind of dislike his giant meat paws, but I still kept it kind of fat and lumpy. Think the guy I'm doing this for might be at the FLGS tonight so I'm going to hold off on doing the second one till I see if he likes the first one.

Should probably update this... Scythian claws are all done. He just needs a little bit more gap filling, mostly in the armpits and around the new tail, which is a Ravagore tail so the two Ravagores have more differences in them. Plus I need to get his shoulder spikes on.

Second is a Ravagore with pretty much no conversion work, just a bunch of pinning. Still needs some minor gap filling and shoulder spikes.

Teraph with again no conversion work, just pins. Trying to get those four legs to sit even on the ground gave me so much stress pain in my back, that I had to settle for close enough.

Lastly is a Ravagore that I'm working on giving a bit of a different pose to so you can more easily differentiate the two of them. He's still more in the WIP stages, but will have his head back, letting loose a fireball.

First time I ever saw Everblight I thought the same thing. These guys NEED to be modded into nids! Nice work so far! Keep it up!

"Within microseconds, the post-hypnotic implants in the subconscious portions of his brain were already running the pre-deployment checks, and the insides of his eyeballs lit up with telemetry data, weapon readiness status, fuel levels and a million other nuggets of information that would allow him to command this beautiful, wonderful Titan. 'How do you feel?' asked the the adept and Jonah laughed. 'It's good to be the king,' he said."

Just need to get some green stuff to fill in the elbows on the reposed Ravagore, but I want to let the glue set a bit first. Here's a couple shots to show off the efforts to repose and make different the Ravagore on the left from the stock model on the right.
