I've recently just traded/sold my 4000 point Dwarf army for one of my friends' recently bought Skaven stuff and some cash. As my only other playable fantasy army is High Elves I've been dying to start an "evil" army for quite some time now. It was win/win. He gets a playable army right away and I get something new to put together. So I guess that's all for backstory. Let's get to the models!

These first pics are of one of my units of Clanrats/slaves. I base coat the flesh with Fiery Orange then apply a healthy dose of Flesh Wash. I then highlight the raised areas with Vomit Brown.

The idea is that they are the troops that consist of the Plague Monks' acolytes and experiments. I'm using models that don't really have any metal armor to them for this unit of 20.

The other 10 of this unit will probably be based with Vomit Brown, then Flesh Washed, then highlighted with Vomit Brown just so they don't end up looking exactly alike but very close.

The cloth is Bleached Bone. I lightly armor wash just to get a little shading then I dirty them up a bit with whatever is handy, reds, browns, yellows, or greens.

I'm not worrying about the details like teeth, eyes, or little warts right now. I just want to get them playable.

Why do I roll five 1's way more than I roll five 6's?

It was a rough week for painting as I'm moving into a new apartment and actually have walls to paint instead of models, but I didn't want a week to go by without another post so here it is.

This model is a test for the other unit of Clanrats I plan on doing. These models have armor on them, so they will be more like troops loyal to my Warlord and not the Plague Priest.

Really simple: the skin is just a dark grey base coat (I forget which and don't have it in front of me) with a light Armor Wash, then highlighted with the same grey. The warpaint is done with Elf Flesh/Ghostly Grey. It's a similar paint job to how I may being doing my Vermin Lord. The cloth bits are a mix of the unit of slaves cloth I am doing and Dwarf Flesh that is Flesh Washed and then made dirty.
