I made this stand for my 40k miniatures, it's not finished yet I still need to add some flock. I have a salamander arm, a skull and some shells. I wanted to see what it was like with a model on it, so I used my exarch.

For the arm...Pick up some Loctite 1 minute set time epoxy. Pump a little out and add a dab or 2 of blood red. Mix it up and with a toothpick add some of the mix around the shoulder area. It dries like real blood and looks 100x better than paint. Open my gallery and check out my bloodthirster base and axe to see how it turns out

Ok I might try the blood, idea except I am not really sure where to get it, the closest arts store is Michaels. Is there anything else I can add to make the arm fit.

hmm, tough to make an arm fit on a base like that...typically arms work better with bases that have more going on. To me it just looks like a random arm and an arbitrarily placed skull on a tarmac where shells from a boltgun fell perfectly in a row...without even bouncing off the pavement. I would suggest placing a few more casings to make it look more natural. Also a good way to try to get those other pieces to fit is to break up the sand with a mixture of small, med, and large pieces of rock/sand...I think it would help the base tremendously. If you could find a way to incoporate a few patches of grass it could also add a much needed element. Just some suggestions to consider....if you decide to revise, post another pic!
