It doesn't modify the weapon's strength or count the 'lith's armour as less than 14, but my 'cron playing friend is insistent it doesn't work; does it?

It adds +1 to damage tables, does it not? ASAIK, the Monolith has no rules preventing damage table modifiers, so your friend is wrong.

Nothing that living metal does would counter the bonus.

Pask's crack shot does affect monoliths.

I have to agree with the people here. His ability is not affected by the Living Metal special rule.

I'll disagree. Pask's Crack Shot adds +1 to the Armor Penetration roll. The Monolith Living Metal says that all you ever get when attempting to penetrate is the unmodified strength of the weapon plus 1d6, nothing else. A +1 is something else.

Note that if your codex does not say this, you have the old one from before the 'stealth' reprint.

No, Pask's ability adds +1 to the armour penetration roll.

Strength bonuses are not explicitly mentioned. Weapons that double the users strength do get their strength bonus (confirmed by the FAQ).

It just says you cant get extra armour pen dice, so if it's just a plain ole plus 1 I think it works.

It doesnt say that, it states, in the reprint, that "in practice this means you never get more than unaugmented strength of the weapon +D6"

S+D6+1 is NOT S+D6

The rules for Living metal is very clear. the Monolith's Armor value may never be altered (so it always remains AV14) and the opponent may never gain an additional dice for penetration. There is nothing disallowing a +1 to the penetration roll nor any references to the strength of the weapon.

Pask does not affect Living Metal, the same way Tank Hunters does not affect Living Metal.

I guess I don't have the reprint then.

Also would that mean no doubling S for p-fists?

No, the same way a lascannon shot by a space marine doesn't have S4 when shot at the Monolith. Even though, apparently, by RAW it should.

His abilities ARE effected by living metal, he adds 2d6 to penetration, monolith negates that.

I'm not sure where you're getting he adds 2D6 from. If you mean ordinance that let's you roll 2D6 and choose the highest, which living metal allows.

Ordinance is even mentioned by Living metal to retain the 2D6 then choose the highest result. But Pask's Crack shot ability is a completely different thing, so your argument's moot either way.

Power fists, etc do work, cause it's the unmodified strength of the WEAPON (weapon, not user). And the unmodified strength of the powerfist is 2 x users ST. If that's not good enough, then they work because the GW FAQ said so.

And I wish I had Jaon's Pask, maybe he'd be more useful then, adding 2d6 to penetration instead of the +1 my Pask gets........................

I was aware that p-fists work it's just that nosferatu quoted the following :"in practice this means you never get more than unaugmented strength of the weapon +D6"

This sounded like p-fists wouldn't work, so I thought perhaps the reprint had some funky stuff going on. Not that it matters because as you said it's all in the faq. Though I guess even if it wasn't faq'd it still would work as per your logic.
