Ive just started to get back into the hobby this past week or so, ive had an assault on black reach set sitting there for ages. I finally decided to get back into the hobby, and wanted to go with a unique BA army. Flicking through the codex, i settled on the flesh tearers as they seemed easy to paint quickly, and easy to paint detailed on individual models.
heres the first model ive done, ill be adding more in the coming weeks as ive just bought $500 worth of SM off ebay for like $200.
Comments and feedback would be much appreciated thanks.

Mini isnt anything super duper but it works just fine. Nice and neat, you cant go wrong.

Curse the Aussie $ I say. Made me buy lots of Eldar.

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

Hey guys ive come up with a rough concept for a commander using a grey knights justicar and the axe from Logan Grimnar. EDIT: The outline on our right of the model would be a cloak made from greenstuff.
EDIT2: It wouldnt be in a grey knight color scheme either, i just didnt have the photoshop skills to make it flesh tearers lol.
Any idea if i can buy the axe individually?
And again, can i get everyones opinions?

Haha, :-) onebogan, choice name!(probably only understood by us Aussies) well I don't know if you can buy the axe seperately, probably not, but it would be easy enough to make out of plastic parts, I made my own logan grimnar axe morkai years ago and it wasn't too hard to do using terminator parts, but if you're doing flesh tearers you may want to try and find chaos chain axe parts to fit in with the theme like Chapter master seth's whoop ass chainsword!
I like the way you've done your first few mini's, maybe a badab black wash in the recesses wouldn't hurt? you can always just give it another hihlight when it dries to neaten it up? are you planning on highlighting the black? if you are i can let you know how i do mine if you are interested?
keep up the good work, and i'll catch you round.

id say you have a mighty fine start there for the color scheme. The picture quality isnt great, but the marine looks to be painted very neat and clean. My only advice would be to highlight your armor, both the black and red. it will definately add some nice detail to the model. I would also reccomend highlighting your red in a very subtle way. they are flesh tearers, so you dont want to highlight with orange...maybe blood red with the smallest touch of vomit brown. cant wait ot see more...best of luck painting

Ive washed them with devlan mud, not that you can tell lol. i might try a black wash on the next few figures i start. ive tried slight highlights with codex grey, sort of a REALLY light drybrush but yeah. ill have to work on it, some tips would be nice

haha thanks, ill keep it in mind on the next few figures i try. im trying to get a template down, i think ive found it with flesh tearers. at first i tried an ultraderp successors chapter, like, ultramarine blue with grey shoulderpads and a darker wash and finish. It took me ages so it wouldnt have been good for mass amounts of figures.

It looks OK but doesn't seem to have alot of detail picked out that I can see but I think its more due to the photography than your actual skills.
