Greetings and salutations,

I'd like to introduce you all to my Word Bearer army, it is by no means finished, or much painted at all but I'd like some input on my conversions and general theme of the army. Originally I intended to do a Sons of Malice styled renegade force, but after some thought I dove into the Bearers of the Word, as I felt they offered more of a possessed styled themed army, without having to dedicate allegiance to a solitary chaos god.

Also, these are my first models. Be gentle. ;(

Chaos Sorcerer

This little guy is a combination of kitbashing from possessed marines, regular csm and grey knight force weapons. All of the white stuff is white tac, just to give a view of how the model will most likely be posed in. One of the legs has been repositioned to suit a rock surface which will be made from miliput. The green stuff was wrapped around a guitar string (props to syypher for the idea) and is intended to be energy which will be painted in purple/green.

I'm still toying with the idea of a one sided thin cape positioned on the arm with the force weapon, which will wrap under the back pack and blow in a windswept motion towards the hand holding the energy. Although I feel that may mean the model will have too much going on at once. Should I?

Skull Champion and Berserker

Fairly straight forward kit bash, I wanted to give a more possessed feeling to some of the berserkers. Some filing needs done, but I like the feel of it so far. I had toyed with the idea of using the Grey knight force sword but ended up using the modeling knife to achieve a similar pose with the chain axe. I'm thinking about continuing this trend with the berserkers for every two regular there will be one with mutations.

Aspiring Champion

This is the second model I assembled, favoring a spear over a standard bearer, I jumped straight in with this. The paint job is quite messy, isn't layered and it actually ended up with quite a glossy effect (due to me not shaking the paint before use and not watering it down). I'll be stripping it shortly in favor of trying a watered down layering technique. Which hopefully does not look like I shot them with paint.

Anyway I decided to post these here for ideas and feedback, I only have my missus to show them to and she has about as much interest in war-gaming as I do in watching bloody gossip girl. *sigh*

On a wavering note, I'm not quite sure what to do with the rest of the CSM I have, I know I will be making a dark apostle chaos lord (scratchbuilt accursed crozius, greenstuff book of Lorgar, demonic visage and slight mutations). If I assemble the last 10, I'll have around 24 of the little buggers, I was thinking of converting a few of them into demonic winged raptors as I dislike the idea of winged possessed (Claws, Run, HOOVES!). So I was thinking of 5 raptors or would it be more beneficial to have two units of 10 CSM?

The multiple choice is killing me and I fear I've fell into the beginner trend of; must be perfect, RAGE.

All advice is welcome and I will be updating this as I go along painting,

Cheers, Erebus.

Wow great job! Just goes to show what can be accomplished by kit bashing when in the hands of someone that knows what they're doing

Nice appropriate photo stand block btw

Thanks guys.

Next up is the Standard Bearer.

This was my answer to my using the spear for the Aspiring champion, to me he seems too nurgle for my army, so I think I'll be removing the head for another choice, demonic or without a helm.

Tonight I'm finishing up the last of the berserkers, then I'll be moving on to the Dark Apostle.

Humanity will embrace the gods, or humanity will embrace oblivion.

I love the model, different take on an icon bearer. I dont know about being to Nurgley. I like the 3 eyed helmet, reminds me of splinter cell, but Im not a fan of the single horn on the helm. Never liked how it makes it uneven looking.
