Ok so I have been working on the little princess by runic miniatures, and let me just say if you don't own one you should!! http://www.runicminiatures.dk/index.php. Theirs the link, GO BUY NOW!!! Anyways this model is a blast, and is really allowing me to push the painting skills to the test, as the smooth surfaces really require a almost perfect blend. I have sent one as a gift to Mathieu Fontaine, and I have another already that will be much more... demonic in nature. Anyways I hope you all enjoy and I will continue to update the pics on this model as I work on her.

Thought I would share a little update as I am back at painting this model. You dakka get to see this from start to finish, and let me just say Runic Miniatures has hit the jackpot on this model, as it has helped their sales. Jakob has already reported a knight that is in the works to go alongside this one. I am still far from complete on this one but enjoy.

Very cute model. I was thinking of picking that up to paint for my wife, though I still owe her a few squigs from a birthday a couple of years back. If there is a knight to go with that though, I think I definitely will have to!

Your blending is looking really nice on it so far. The only thing I might quibble on is highlighting the hair from black to grey instead of brown. Makes her look more old, as usually "black" hair is really dark brown.

@Wehrkind: hrmm black to brown huh... I will test that out on another model, as I do agree the black to grey tends to make them seem older. If I like it on that test model then I will most definately change it, but I forsee liking it as it stands out in my mind.

@rest: thank you all for your kind words. This is in all honesty one of the most fun models I have ever worked on. All of the smooth surfaces force you to really work at it to get that almost perfect transistion blend.

Regarding highlighting the black I have also seen it done using a dark, warm brown as midtone and then go extreme bluegrey on the final highlights.
That is also quite close to how I achieved the black on my big Death company marine. Black. Dark warm brown, then 2 highlights of greys, and finally some touches of space wolf grey.
On this mini I'd do the transition in 4 goes. Black. Dark brown (for instance 1:1 black, scorched brown), thinned shadow Grey, Space wolf Grey.
Looking forward to see the mini progress further.

Edit: Don't redo the hair with our suggesting before you have got the veil in place since it forms the backdrop for the hair and thus they need tot work together.
I guess I am just saying follow your plan and then consider if changes according to the suggestions can make the mini even better.

Thanks, JRN actually uses frogs in several of his models that he has sculpted on his site. Normally I hate painting familiars as well they never come out how we want them too, but suprisingly this one did, and was easy and fun to do so. I will be working on her later tonight namely on the veil and the streamers comming off the hat, and intend to go pink with these, as I feel it adds well to the models feel. I have a second version of her I will be painting down the raod, and lets just say it will head in a couple opposite direction ( resident evil will be the muse for it).

Well she's finished finally. It took three different approaches to the hair for me just to decide which way to go with it. And two repaints on the veil. I am not entirely pleased with the my paint job as a whole but such is the life I think. Anyways here's the pics and enjoy.

Thats a skookum paintjob!! makes me wonder if i could get enough people together for d&d or something to legitimise buying something like that!
