Yes the tyrant is interchangable, and the Tyrant Guard are proxied from Biovores. I do fear that first/second turn this monster will be recieving the full firepower of 1000pts. This is why we shielded him up. You mention dropping Toxin Sacs and then making him a
CC monster, wouldnt Dual Scythes/Toxin's re-roll to hit then wound be better than a small chance of instant death.
Wings is a slight potential for him, but then he is realy vulnerable. I cant rely on there being
LOS blocking cover for him.
Any particular reason for toxic sacs on the SpineGaunts?
Finaly forgot to mention the Tyrants Psyker moves. He likes to take the stock 'Steal your wounds' and the '
WS BS to 1'
Tonight we will go through his list again making him less 'pinning' and more 'assaulty'. any other thoughts?

Hive tyrant and one guard can still take a lot of shooting. With 500/500 points and both having to take 1HQ, 1 troop it leaves little scope for lots of high strength shooting. They will need to chuck all they can at the tyrant and he may still get to
CC in round 2 - albeit with a few less wounds. Not having ranged weapons there will be no temptation to not run in the shooting phase in turn one. Having a fire magnet will then take the pressure off the genestealers and
IG heavy weapons, which will turn out to be the real killing units in your army. Just hope your younger brother can deal with his
HQ being shot up "for the greater good"!
Remember, tyrant is WS8 and S6 so the toxin sacs don't give the same benefit as for lower strength models. He'll often wound on 3+, so toxin sacs can conversely worsen his position.
Lash whip makes any strong
HQs he runs into attack at I1 - this is the benefit not the bonesword. With WS8 and already rerolling 1s there is little benefit from dual scything over the lashwhip. Paroxysm/leech essence can both be very good as there will not be much anti-psy kicking around.
For gaunts, the 4+ auto wounds does give them the chance of wounding high toughness troops,
MCs etc and so you can survive
CC. Spinefists are only 12" range so
CC is a strong likelihood.
On final thought, I was just questioning the use of hive commanader. Stealers will outflank anyway and if gaunts outflank out of synapse then they only have that first round before they resort to instinctive behaviour. Why not just let the stealers cover the squishy outflanking
IG while the gaunts advance in front of the tyrant. Then slam the door shut on them from all sides! (this would save 25 points which can go on a stealer and another gaunt). No one will waste shots on the gaunts and they won't
CC them either with the risk of a counter charge from the tyrant!
Let us know how you get on ...
