I painted one of my brother's gryphon for him because he had two from the new isles of blood. I'll get pictures of his soon to show the difference between painting it like a regular hawk vs a different bird of prey. And yes this is unfortunately the best lighting i can get, which is just when it is bright outside. I paint by a really dim light on my computer desk.
