I was digging through the new rulebook FAQ and i noticed this at the end of page 5:

Q: Does Killing Blow work against a mounted character regardless
of what he is mounted on? (p72)
A: Yes, as long as the character would count as an infantry
model if it wasn’t mounted.

Am i right in assuming that this pretty much makes all those characters that avoided killing blow by buying a monstrous beast as a mount, for a common example a juggernaugh of khorne, no longer immune to killing blow, even though they are monstrous cavalary?
And if not is it just mean't for monster/chariot riders, and how so?

Ya, you are right in your assumption Hover.

I read a similar thread on Warseer in regards to this. The argument centered on whether or not Archaeon could not be subject to killing blow. He is listed as Monstrous Cavalry in the codex, but the argument is that he can be purchased (at least previous editions) on foot, and we should assume that he would be an infantry model if he did not have his mount.

I am not commenting on the argument just presenting it.

The real trouble spot is Tyrion. He cannot be purchased on his own, his codex listing is Monstrous Cavalry yet we also know he would likely be infantry (yes I realize that is an assumption).

I think the rule is very poorly thought out, but the point of the FAQ was to say that you could no longer protect yourself from killing blow by purchasing a Monstrous Mount for your otherwise infantry hero/lord.

It says if it would be vulnerable to it if not mounted, so it shouldnt matter if he can be knocked off the mount or fielded without the mount or none of the above.

Hover, yes the FAQ answer means that if you buy a juggernaut for your lord of khorne he is still subject to KB.

RaW Tyrion and Archaon are still not subject to killing blow. The character would not "count as infantry if not mounted" because he is never not mounted.

That kinda nerfs WoC but oh well, they have plenty of other cool things goin for em.
