Sanctjud’s New England (USA) Breast Cancer Brawl 2010 Report.
I dropped by the Hobby Bunker in Malden,
MA and had a great time at the Breast Cancer Brawl. To spice things up, we can put in $ for tickets to use ‘cheats.’
So I got around 100 tickets for the whole day and ended the day with 0 tickets left.
From memory, I used tickets for the following:
-ADing two arc nodes.
-Tough on female models.
-Re-rolls galore.
Here is the trophy for first place:
We ran with only 1 list with the Steamroller rules. I went with Cryx and pGaspy. I have never played the list, I’ve never played pGaspy, I’ve never played with the Canker, and everything else has been dabbled with somewhat.
But wait, there is more sadness, these three fights will be my sixth, seventh, and eighth game of Warmahordes.
So, yea, sounds like much doom and gloom, but this is a friendly event and what better than to have some hard lessons to get things into mind?
Anyway, the following is my army:
pGaspy
-Cankerworm
-Deathripper
-Deathripper
5 Soulhunters
10 Satyxis Raiders
-Sea Witch
Wrathe
Satyxis Raider Captain
Warwitch Siren
Machine Wraith
My theme for the list was, “The Need For Speed.”
With army set and a pocket full of tickets, it’s go time.
Round 1, aka “TOUGH!!! It does not work!!!”
Scenario: Close Quarters.
Opponent: Trollbloods.
Grissel
-Pyretroll
-Bouncer
-Earthborn
10 Kriel Warriors
-Unit Attachment
Cav Solo
3 Buffalo
So this is my first time fighting against Hordes and Trollbloods.
I knew much about Trolls, though, much Theorymachine and reading up on all the factions from the
PP boards and Battlecollege just so that I am not completely clueless.
So before the game starts I put down tickets for Women are Tough and get it.
My opponent wins the roll off and goes first.
Here is a pic of the early game:
Basically, I went ahead and took the advice on the forums I posted my list on and use the Raiders as the first wave and use the Soulhunters as the second.
Grissel pops her feat turn 2 and the Kriels slam into the Raiders that ran into position over the objectives.
Here is a pic of the late game:
There were a lot of attacks put down and much missing, but tough was not very hot for me.
Nor my opponent when the Raiders hit back and the Soulhuters smashed their way through.
The Cav and the beasts were pincering my main line, I ran incorp. Soulhunters to engage Grissel, but then time is called.
Neither player won on Scenario or Assassination.
Neither player had any Scenario Points.
It came down to who had more points in the control area tiebreaker, and I had the Raiders and Soulhunters in my zone while my opponent had nothing in there.
I get the win on the second tiebreaker, tough took a lot of time out of the game (using ‘cheats’ as well) even with die in hand.
Problems I had:
-Deployment sadness, had had issues with order of activation with respect to stuff in each others’ way. It ended up the Soulhunters getting scything touch on them instead of the intended Raiders.
-pGaspy, I played him real back and real safe, which is prob. something I needed to avoid. I was worried about he flanking Cav and beasts. He ended up using his focus to put on jacks…and I don’t remember… I don’t think he did any useful offensive spells and didn’t even use his feat. I just don’t believe it. I prob. should have parasite the kriel warriors and try to POW5 with the feat to try and get lucky that way.
-I completely forgot about Soul collecting from the Soulhunters.
What I’m Proud of:
-Lots of attacks from both Raiders and Soulhunters. I had more carnage from them compared to my using them in the past.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Round 2, aka “All That You Have Done, Was Useless!”
Scenario: Outflank, Outfight, Outflank.
Opponent: Khador.
pIrusk
-Devestator
-Wardog
3 MoW Shock
3 MoW Demo
MoW Dragoon
MoW Jack Marshal
-Berserker
-Berserker
Wow, very killy and tough list. My opponent was pretty scared at mine, but I’m not too comfortable wielding it yet.
So before the game starts I put down tickets for Women are Tough, but my opponent matches my contribution to prevent me from getting it.
When I deployed, I spent some tickets to Advance Deploy Move my two Deathrippers in the intent to get some debuffs going on, but I had a mind fart and just didn’t use it the whole game…yea, really bad.
My opponent wins the roll off and goes first.
Here is a picture for Deployment:
My opponent moves stuff up, with the Devastator leading the way.
Here is a picture of my epic charge with Scything Touched Raiders with power swell on:

I got 6 into combat range though.
Here is a picture of the Devastator running side ways and taking 10 freestrikes from Raiders:
ZERO DAMAGE…
Damn man, that event is a great advertisement for the Devestator.
After all that feedbackless action, the Captain Charges the Devestator and causes 8 points of damage…sheesh, she shows how it’s done. And then she dies to a rain of death.
So…pIrusk pops his feat on turn 2 and both MoW units march up to the Raiders and proceed to clear out all but 3.
All the while the MoW Jack Marshal marches over to my right objective…only to have the Berserkers run away from the Machine Wraith. He was quite alone, but the only magical weapon was on pIrusk…….and he starts to make his way to the Machine Wraith…
Ok, so here is the best part and the worst.
The right arc node gets a focus and runs to the ruines on top of the hill, making sure to get
LoS on pIrusk but not in combat with the MoW.
pGaspy upkept scything touch on the Soulhunters (who were not using it, GRRR).
With his last 5 focus, he put a fully boosted Hellfire Attack onto pIrusk, rolled high, and was made to reroll it with tickets. My opponent takes the second roll that causes 7 damage onto him.
What was the worst part? I forgot I had a feat.
Hindsight is 20/20, but I only had once chance, and this was it.
I had no other point where I could do better.
At least here, I’d still have one boost to hit and one regular Hellfire, and I had my own re-roll tickets available.
I blame my noobness.
Though, it was an avenue that would have been denied to me. At the end of the game my opponent informs me he forgot about counter charge from the MoW Cav Solo, which would have engaged the Arc Node/Destroyed it anyway.
Here is a pack of the late game:
So, almost all of my stuff is dead, and the MoW Jack Marshall all the while just sits on the far right objective to just rack up the 3 points he needs to win by scenario with almost no contest.
Basically I was pressing for assassination and didn’t follow through and forgot about the objective on that side.
Problems I had:
-Parasite much?
-Feat at the right time much?
What I’m Proud of:
-Too little, too late, but the Soulhunters are really cool at getting places…problem is, I never committed them to attacking and was too run frenzy with them this game…something I should have learned not to do so much.
So I have lost by scenario.
Just by the MoW Jack Marshall sitting on the objective cleaning is Gun-Axe.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Round 3, aka “DENIED! THRICE”
Scenario: Killbox.
Opponent: Legion.
Ryhas (Tier 2)
-Teraph
-Raek
-Shredder
-Harrier
10 Swordsmen
-
UA 10 Swordsmen
-
UA 6 Swordsment
IIRC.
Wow...that looks really nasty. More infantry and weaponmaster than I have with respect to being a Cryx player, heh.
So before the game starts I put down tickets for Women are Tough and get it.
This time I won the roll off and decided to go first for once.
I run up. Legion runs up to engage me.
I whip some swordsmen and do as poorly as I did with the Soulhunters by running them at Rhyas.
Rhyas pops feat turn 2…OMFG…that is a bucket full of attacks that sees stuff just erased. It also isn’t great that I forgot that my girls had tough after 7 ladies were down…then proceed to fail almost all the tough test that were required.
Here is a picture of the sadness in this game.
Rhyas is sitting on 3 Fury.
Wrathe moves closer to Rhyas and hellfire her. He rolls high and it is transferred.
“If I can’t assassinate you this round, you win.”
Arc node uses a fury to run with in 3-4” of Rhyas.
Gaspy throws down on Breath. Only 3 damage, she takes it.
Breath 2, transfer.
Feat
Breath 3, transfer.
Breath 4, boost damage, with re-roll….I reduce Rhyas down to ONE BOX…
I chose to bypass the POW5’s on the Swordsmen to save time, but I really should have gone through with trying to kill them off…20/20 now, but even one going down would have saved pGaspy…not much he can do next but at least he wouldn’t be cleaved in half, heh.
Charged the Machine Wraith. Miss.
Canker moves and attacks, miss bite, miss tail, reroll, reroll, reroll, all miss.
I forget she has corrosion on her…2/3 of a chance to win the game…FRAK!
Here is the endgame:

4 Charging Swordsmen, 3 misses, but one connects and rolls crazy high and pwns pGaspy…/sigh.
Here is a picture of the caster cards:

Damn it…
Problems I had:
-I should have committed the Soulhunters to killing more swordsmen instead of running at Rhyas.
-Not maximizing use of the secondary part of the feat.
-Forgetting Corrosion.
-Soulhunters not doing what they should be doing.
