Okay, not so much a rumour as such, but bear with.

This week's 'What's New Today' has been focussed on Apocalypse, with a few links to Apocalypse type things, but nothing overtly new (well, the Monster Case I guess fits this bill).

And pretty much every army show cased contains a Warhound. Yet in a non-typical manner, the articles don't pimp the Titans as a Forgeworld product.

Not much on it's own I'll grant you.

But when I was working for GW (just a shop monkey, nowt special) this year (and some of last) I heard, and was told a few times, that a plastic Warhound was indeed underway.

Do you reckon we'll be getting a special visit from Santa in a 50' Warmachine this year?

I'm expecting something Apocalypse related, it fits well with the kind of Christmas promotions which GW run (not army/codex specific so they can market everything) but I would be rather surprised to see a Warhound. More likely would be the Stormraven (the timing of the leaked pic suggests a December/January release) and possibly other fliers for other races to go with it or the rumoured Eldar super heavy.

I don't think that GW could keep a plastic warhound this secret.

Except we have guys like Harry and Stickmonkey posting little hints and things about models that won't be released for months.
I really don't think these guys would have kept quiet about something this awesome.

If they even knew.

If the model has been done for a while (and that would not be uncommon these days) how many people would *need* to know when it's exact release date is?

Well, not Space Hulk. Harry told us 2.5 years in advance, the Space Hulk anti-marketing wasn't confusing the veterans.
But GW keeps their secrets "better" nowadays.

Just looked through these articles and there's only one army shown with a warhound, which the dude has been collecting since 2004.

Also a pic of a chaos Warhound on yesterdays.

As I said, it's far from a solid case, but worth considering? I mean why only now produce the Monster Case, when most units requiring it were out this time last year?

That's a page of pictures sent in by readers, it's headed "Your Super Heavy Models" and has this text below the picture.

We also had a lot of large models sent in, including Richard Gray's Forge World Titan, and we loved the pose, the paint scheme and his imagination. The construction was a complex process. Richard said: 'The base was cut out of some old kitchen floorboards. I broke up some polystyrene sheets and glued them in places that would fit around the titan's toes. It was then sprayed Chaos Black. The spray mades the polystyrene melt, which I think makes it look better. I then covered it with glue and sprinkle sand over it. Once that was dry I sprayed it black again and drybrushed it first Snakebite Leather, then Bleached Bone and finally Skull White. I also glued on some static grass.'

I would like to think its true...but I will wait and see. It would have to be a mail order kit, you just cant put a 400$ model in your stores and then expect to attract new people to the game.

Ditto. Warhaound has always been on one of my dream items. but I'm lousy at working with resin and the cost has been somewhat prohibitive But a "cheap" plastic one would be a definite draw.

Yea... Same for a plastic Thunderhawk. I'm more inclined to think a plastic Thunderhawk would be released well before a plastic Warhound. Either way, Space Marines need a super heavy plastic kit.

Not really. Space Marines don't field superheavies in anything remotely near large enough numbers. Even Thunderhawks are kind of rare to be committed, since they're treated like relics.

Considering they are described as "the lynchpin of a Space Marine Chapter", I'm going to call foul on this. The Thunderhawk has always been used to deliver the Space Marines directly to the battle, as befits their intended role as shock troops.

"Kind of rare" doesn't mean "never used". Most Chapters maintain Thunderhawks, sure. But at the same time...they're not always deployed in a combat role, since they are rare machines that aren't mass produced and the Thunderhawks themselves have a personality and a history on par with some of the most ancient Dreadnoughts a Founding Legion can field.

Plus you're wrong about the shock troops bit, simply because when the Astartes are intended to be used in a "shock and awe" styled role, they deploy in Drop Pods. That is, after all, how they got the moniker "Angels of Death".

No pretty much everyone knew, the only reason to doubt was wishful thinking and the fact GW LIED THROUGH THEIR TEETH to us about it.

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

I think it's kind of odd that there's no plastic Warhound out already. The filthy greenskins have a Stompa but the Emperor's Finest don't have a Titan? Heresy!

I'd love one, to be honest. Got my fingers crossed that this is true.
