So, you're looking at all of those ugly old Raiders, and wishing there was something you could do with them? And, at the same time, you find yourself wishing that you had a Venom or three?

Well here's my solution, turn the old Raiders into Venoms!

I'm really not sure what people will think of these to be honest. I don't even play DE, I just did this for a friend. It took a Raider, two splinter cannons from the old DE Warrior sprue, and some plasticard and greenstuff. If you guys like the design, I'd be more than happy to provide a tutorial when I finish the second one.

You'll have to excuse the rough appearance of it, the thing has been repainted twice, and I think was used at a Ravager at some point (hence the glue on the footboards) so it's seen much better days, but I felt a lot better hacking away at a crappy looking one rather than one of his better ones, at least for the first one.












I know that it doesn't really fit the known images of the Venom (from either the old Harlie dex or the pic in the new DE codex) but I was more focused on creating something usable out of a Raider, that matched the function of the Venom. I'm still not 100% done, I don't have the head for the pilot yet(it is going to be one of the fishbowl helmets from the jetbike sprue, I just left over at my friends house) and I have to find something to fit in the gap in the front (the pilot was originally going to sit there, before I changed the look)

It is very nice! Though it would pass off more as one of the new DE flyers, not the venom. The venom transports, fluffwise, are tiny - maybe a third of the size of a raider.

It's a pretty good conversion. Doesn't really match the new aethetic, though.

Yea, it is a bit bigger than the venom, but not by a whole lot (I'll try and take some comparison pics later tonight)

I had thought the same thing about the flyer, but it's a bit small for that. And it would really need to be enclosed, I'm thinking of trying to get an Eldar windscreen and trying something like that next, maybe using the extra sails from the new Raider/Ravager kits.

nice work, that is a good way to utilize an old raider.

Now that it has a bit of paint on it, you can get a slightly better idea of how it's supposed to look. Still have a lot of work to go, will try and take some more pics tomorrow if I can work on it.
