It's about time for me to take on a new projects, so I'd like to try and make some Grot Tanks, but I need a little advice (also I'd like to try and avoid paying $527 for 18 models from Forgeworld).

Does anyone have some ideas for some toy tanks that would be around the right size? I'm not sure if Hotwheels size is ok, or if I should look for something bigger?

Any advice would be helpful...

I was hoping for an entire tank.

I think I can go with flames of war tanks like these for example:

What I'd like is something I can buy in bulk, that isn't an arm & Leg since I have to do some Moding

Micro art studios sell an iron brotherhood figure that has a mini tank bottom. I made a grot tank with a big shoota on it and it only cost $10.00.

Well before I can really compare tanks to find the right fit, I need to know the size of the orginal.

Does anyone what the Height, Width, and Length of a grot tank should be?

Remember those old stereotypical toy soldiers you used to buy at the dollar store? The ones with all the plastic troops in 2 or 3 positions with horribly out of scale tanks and jeeps? Use those. I do.

I'll have to go look at those, but I'd like to know if anyone has picked any of these models up to give me an idea of the size

They're about as tall as a marine and about double the length and equal width.

Hobbylinc has a pair of tanks for less then $7 in the right scale. They are very simple and obviously will need quite a bit of addons to work, but do give you a nice cheap base to start with.

Ouze those tanks look awesome.

I went to the local hobby shop and found another one of the tanks from this company, same scale but different tank.

I did some converting and I think it'll make a great Grot Tank.

I'll try to post some pics in a few days.

Ok here's the test build of the Grot tank using the Pegasus Tank chassie, plasticard, a sponson turret from a Bane Blade, a grot I had sitting around, and a Chaos Space marine Lascannon.

If you have enought bits, and plasticard, I think the Pegasus Tank Chassie is good enough.

But I'll let you guys decide.

I really don't like the "search" function on Dakkadakka, because I looked for Grot Tank links and nothing came up.

Oh well, those tanks do look cool, I'll have to ork up the next one a bit more.
