I picked up every one through the Constructicons. Sadly, my area never got the all-in-one Devastator, that I would have bought just to have the stat card off the box.
Then they started to get cheap and silly with the Aerobots (...or whatever combining flying tings).
Oh yea... and the fountain is really cool (just to keep this post on topic ). My only criticism is the water streams turn back under just a little bit.
The fountain is not mine! It is a picture from the site that is showing the finished product. Mine will be more on the decayed side

You know I totally would, except that it would probably be like a 25 day turn around!! I have considered taking out a small business loan to open my own "Gaming Place" by which I mean a place that has 4 to 5 tables and charges per hour to play! I would make all the terrain of course and hold tournaments and the like. It has actually taken up a lot of my time. I have a business model and everything Oh well maybe one day when I win the lottery. Good luck on your FoR, make sure you put up pics

Hey Whalemusic 360. I recommend using the Fortress of Redemption in a 1500 point game on a 4' table. Place it along the centre line and make sure it touches one table edge. One of the best games I've ever have. It was a pick up game at my local store, my Death Guard vs Eldar, and the game was very tactical due to having the bottle neck. My army was wiped out but it was dammed good fun. (Especially my dreadnought destroying my rhino in turn one then getting himself wrecked by a bright lance)

I have every episode on DVD - not recorded from the telly unfortunately. I have every japanese episode too. Superion (the Aerialbots combiner) is one of my favourites! :(

Yeah there's quite a few hardcore guys over here, but I don't know anyone who has a G1 collection like me. I have a few pieces not from the G1 line; a few movie pieces, a couple of Binaltech, some Classics, a few Japanese exclusives.
I'm about to sell my Armade collection (pretty extensive, as it happens). I think I own ~40 Optimus Primes. The new toys are superior in build quality above all else, but the G1s have more character!
Marty - I bought some of that poly material from Hobbycraft at the weekend. It's great stuff! I spun some in my fingers and used it for vines. They didn't come out great, but this stuff is really versatile!

@PDH - I'll have to give that a try sometime. It just seems like whoever can get troops in the fort would have a huge advantage (3 armor 14 bunkers with weapons) that we have been scared off.
@Tek - Very nice collection. If you decide you want anything that US market gets that you dont, just lemme know and I'll snag one for ya. Superion is great, though the new version is a stinker. Sold mine for a small profit though, so it worked out.

whalemusic360 - Ah right, well yes that would be frightening. Just to clarify we just used it as an intact building a left over from cities of death (I wanted to call it city fight just now lol), so no weapon systems and impassible terrain above the first floor and could not get inside the ground floor bunkers. Models on the first floor got a 4+ cover save.

You know I thought about buying a FoR, but found it to expensive and over powered if you are the one assaulting it. I love the look of it though. Maybe one day.
Question:
Would you pay per hour to play on tables that had great terrain run by an awesome staff ( yours truly ) and if so what would you pay to play on it. Also what would you want to see in a shop that offered such a great environment?
I have be in retail management for 12 years and am really starting to consider doing this as my own business venture.
If you think that it is a stupid idea, let me know. I am looking for honest "NO HOLDS BARRED" answers!!!

I think the best thing in this case would be to charge something reasonable like $5 per person per day. I know it doesnt seem like much, especally for the work, but the idea would be to gain some loyal customers that come back over and over. For those people that do want a loyalty program, offer a $75 membership that gives free table access and a discount on product or a "Spend $xx get a punch on a card, get x punches for a free thing card". You will make less per purchase, but will lock in most/all of their purchases at that point. I would spend the $75 if I planned on being there more then 2-3 times a year without even thinking about it.
As far as product goes, make sure you evolve and listen. If someone is talking about how cool xxx is, make sure you get it. I've said "Man, I have to get some assault termis" in a game against the store owner. 3 weeks later I bought em off the internet. Also, when GW raises prices, charge based on what YOU paid for it. Your inventory will turn over every time. Try to organize FW group orders twice a year. Host events, campaigns etc in which said members ^ get a discount/free on entry (free for things like a Xmas event). If you have a good database for members, send an extra 10% discount to make sure you get that birthday money from em. Ive got lots of other stuff in the brain, but its stuck in there right now.

The problem is that when it becomes a major expense to play on a table, people will just make one (I did, but for slightly different reasons). And a game takes at least 2 hours for any real point size. It would add up quick. Maybe look at a tanning salon as a business model rather then a pool hall (all of which have died in my area)

I personally dont game except with my kids, would like to but transport and time is an issue, and all the everchanging rules, i dont think there is much money to be earned with any small buissness , that needs a lot of floor space, i would probably go a few times , but , not being a power gamer , i much prefer tha creative and fluff aspects of the genre, if you could get the premisises dirt cheap , like big old building gonna be demolished cheap, and capture a young and ever growing fanbase , like gw does , you could probably earn a modest living , But i think one of the biggest draws to the hobby is its creative aspects , i want to build my own terrain ect.. having said that i would enjoy taking my boys to a gaming club , if it was reasonably priced just to meet other hobbyists, if you could make it the one and only place that people would consider going to then , because you have to see what they have made etc.. and its accesible to young people without transport , as well as old buggers like myself, i could work. Its just that the gaming clubs i have being to are all a bit elitist and cold, not like dakkar at all ( very welcoming) but i have being out of the scene for quite some time , so i dont really know what iam talking about. i guess if you got a licscense to sell gw stuff as well , other stuff, you could supplement your income , but i think it would be tight..................
But there is one thing i have learned in life , is that if you want it enough it will happen, it might be long hard slog and your ideas will change frequently but you will get there in the end. never give up on your dream..... ( i swear i am the most verbose grimdark romantic i know )

Most of the game clubs that I've heard about charge about £2-5 for an entrance fee to play as long as you want on that day.

The walls look nice, and finished enough for me. Just the right amount of contrast. I'm withholding judgement on the clearly WIP cherub; it looks like you're going with flesh tones which seems odd for a statue, but time will tell.

I am glad you like it. This terrain has been a labor of love and this thread has been the engine to keep me going. I am also flattered to hear that my thread has inspired a few of you guys to start or finish their own terrain projects. As for the cobble stone it was very expensive but this project was pretty cheap, so I decided to splurge It is going to look really cool when it is all done. Thanks again for your comments and kind words, keep um coming!

interesting in a good way! never ever thought of cobbles for 40k! are they going to be cut up to form the paths? or are you gonna place the whole sheet down? because i think they would look good with kerbstones and paving flags with moss inbetween , like these
or this
