Out of sheer curiosity, what does that banner on the Ironclad say?

Sorry - I missed this reply - Thank You!

Interesting to note that the Ironclad IS significantly taller than the 'standard' dreadnought.

Any idea on what exactly is making it taller?

Is it the legs? The torso?

I like the look of the plastic Venerable dreadnought, but it isn't noticeably taller than the regular dreadnought.

I'm looking for ways to incorporate dreadnoughts into my True Scale marine army, and any 'shortcuts' will be greatly appreciated - so hopefully this will help!

$1,000,000 and a 50% discount

Firstly the scenic base that comes with all Dreads, one has one (the ironclad), the other is just using a standard 60mm Base.

Secondly the angle, the ironclad is angled upwards and would therefore have a little extra height when looking at the model from the front.

Lastly and most noticeably is the Hunter-Killer Missiles on top, which might be adding to the illusion of height.

So the entire difference in height is how they were assembled.

Hopes - dashed!

I still might end up with the plastic Venerable Dreadnought - it looks bigger, bulkier and a bit more Pre-Heresy too...

The venerable dread is a great kit, lots of options and extra guns.

I'll second that. The Venerable Dreadnought kit is awesome.

I was a little put off by what appeared to be the names of Ultramarine battles being sculpted into it. Is this not the case?

That is indeed the case. Fortunately plates are available to cover these things up.

I like Ultramarines but I realize that others . . . do not. I also like that the old vendreadies were more different from newer dreads. I guess you can still get the old look via FW.

FW Venerable Dreadnoughts are quite nice, maybe I'll go that route...

Hmm, wondering why you couldnt compare and contrast directly from the GW site?

I prefer the new ven dread, more options and bits which lead to a better customization of the model. I use a ven dread as a reagular dread in my BA army.

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

Lord Helmet - "I bet she gives great helmet."

Is there some section somewhere where they are standing next to each other?

Because if there is, I've missed it!

Curious that it's also the cheapest of the three as well. I thought it was a US pricing mistake, but it's cheaper than the others in the UK too.

That is odd, but helpful, and appreciated!

Plus, it is the one that I like best.

I think I'll just buy the other weapons via Bits services or eBay and base them all off of the Venerable chassis.

As a comparrison I have two "Ironclads", one made with the full official kit, the other made by putting the Assault Launchers, Hunter Killers and arms from the Ironclad kit onto an old Dark Angels/Standard dred chasis. The body parts are the same size, but a few modelling tricks have been used by GW to make the Ironclad look blukier, such as squarer angles.
