My Hormagants and Termagants need serious repairs. They keeping breaking at the feet and I need to get them attached to their bases again.

Also more difficult are the Zornopthropes, Which ALL 3 have broken at the join of its body and the attached terrain piece of the model.

any advice would be appreciated.

You're going to need to pin these, get yourself a pin vice and some metal rod (you can also use a coathanger or paperclip for rod) and drill a hole in the model and the base.

The hormagaunts have always been an issue since you really just attach a delicate foot to a base, my thought for that would be one of the short flying stems, drill a small hole somewhere near the center of the model's underbelly, plug in the flying stem, attach the flying stem to the base.

Hope that helps, gl!

an easy fix for the Zoanthrope is to glue a small 28mm slotta base ontop of the 40mm one, and glue the zoan's tail into the gap. That helps it stand up. Just cover the 28mm with either a mound of sand or something.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

For attaching Zoanthropes:

If you're not too experienced or comfotable in pinning, you can very well simply apply epoxy putty (I use Mighty Putty) in the joint before attaching with superglue.
I oftentimes use this instead of pinning on models where the joint is too delicate to pin (Infinity models come to mind).

Score the joint with a file or knife. Ensure that the joint has rough edges. Glue/epoxy doesn't attach too well to smooth surfaces. Give it some roughness by slashing it a few times.

Don't use too much superglue.

If you're willing to pin, I don't recommend a manual pin vise. Use a dremel. Chances are, someone you know may have a dremel. You can buy brass rods from hobby stores or even floral stems from your local craft store.

Going to have to disagree here, I've (in my experience) only seen problems come from people using dremels, they're much more powerful than one needs for pinning and spin fast, being a tad careless will end with far more of a hole (a drastic understatement) than intended. If you choose to go this route, practice first and see if you can reliably control it without mangling the model and potentially the hand used to hold it.

YMMV, but having done 100's of holes/pins/placements for magnets with a pin vice, dremels are just overkill. The one thing I would reccommend is getting a decent one with a ball that spins on the end, these are far more comfortable and easy to control.

Something like this, retails for ~$15: http://www.gf9.com/store/popup_image.php?pID=261

Somewhere in south-central England.

Paper clips are good for pinning.

1. Free from the office.
2. Soft enough to bend and cut with light pliers.
3. Hard enough to have the stiffness required for modelling.
4. Just under 1mm drill bit size.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
For heavy models like the Zoanthropes, you should fill the base with putty or polystyrene compund. You can drill into this and get a good footing for your pin.

MechaEmperor7000's idea to build a bigger base is also good. I have used fake boulders (Green stuff) and barrels to provide something to attach the Zoe or Venom on to.

For Gaunts
You can cement the Gaunt to the base with a blob of epoxy resin (Araldite) and cover it up with sand and grass. The Gaunt will have the danger of breaking at the ankle. If this happens you haven't got much choice but to use a long pin between the legs, or the flying base.

If you go for a flying base, by some clear acrylic rod rather than tons of GW bases. It will be cheaper.

Yeah, GW's 'running on one leg' poses really annoy me - for anything without a big foot, it's just asking for trouble. I've looked at trying to repose gant legs but they're so spindly that i can't see how.

I'm not a great fan of the long-tailled reptilian look in general, and have considered replacing the bodies from the waist down, but nothing obvious springs to mind as replacements, short of going the Genestealer cult look with humanoid bodies...
