Where on earth can I get plasma and melta guns and stuff? I have like one left over from the Company Command Squad....

Cheers

Why are there no apocalypse Tau models? They have so much potential!

the war store sells melta and plasma bitz. Kind of pricey, but not THAT unreasonable, given the number you're likely to need at any given time.

They convert well into the arms holding grenade launchers on the regular infantry sprue.

I get my special weapons from the ebay store "Hoard o Bits" The cheapest way to get lots of melta and plasma is (aside from winning an auction) to buy the WARHAMMER 40K BITS BLACK TEMPLAR - 38x BITS & BADGES. This comes with 2 meltaguns and 2 plasmaguns, you just need to have arms to put them on. The actual cadian ones with arms attached are a bit more expensive, but still cheaper than the war store.

Should mention, with Hoard o Bits you always have to buy collections of bits - so unless you get lucky you end up buying a pile of things you may not use (for example, they sell the special weapons as a set, forcing you to buy the melta, plasma and flamers). But like I said, it is still cheaper to buy the set than to get them from the war store.

The least expensive come from gw, but they are metal so a pinning tool and some elbow grease is required. You can buy packs of 5 metal plasma or metal melta guns for about $5, maybe $5.50. Flgs can do them as a special order so there is no shipping.

$9 for a melta and $5 for a plasma?!?! What a rip! How much does the entire squad cost over there? Buy the whole squad, then you've got bodies to put the weapons on too, plus everything else. Or do what the warstore do, and sell on the bitz you don't want for extortionate amounts

Melta costs about 1/8th the price for metal bits that take a pin and a lil bit of elbow grease. If someone is that scared of a pinning tool I'll sell assembled cadians with pinned melta guns for $9 a pop lol

Steal them from your friends. Its what I did. Plasma is fairly easy to come by as not many Space Marine players use them. Melta is a little harder to get hold of, but if you have a FLGS that your a regular of you could always scrounge around and see what you can beg/borrow/buy/steal off of others.

I superglue metal melta & plasma bitz from GW to models without pins (using Zap-a-gap glue), and that works fine. I have no problem with pinning, but the melta/plasma parts are light and small enough that pinning isn't really necessary.

It also makes the parts easier to snap off later if I decide to change something.

Indeed. I use the cut of parts from the metal MGs and PGs that GW sell separatly. Wish they would start selling flamers aswell...
