Hey everybody, I got tired of painting orks so I recently picked up a chaos battleforce and wanted to get some feedback on the color scheme I'm going with. I started with a simple CSM to test. Base coat was p3 thrall flesh. Highlights were glazes of dilluted white and bleached bone. green fade was done with camo green, thrall flesh and a bit of bleached bone. Last night I just did the metalics and some hard dark lines to give it some contrast. I really wanted to depict a nurgle army. I plan on weathering them with some pigments, more pics to come. oh and I took these with my iphone sorry if they aren't the best quality.

Very nice paint job! I'd say that this will fit a nurgle army really well. Can't wait for more!

It looks pretty "Nurgle" to me. Looking forward to seeing what your models look like with some weathering. What kind of ideas do you have for the bases?

Yah the bases...so I am going to try this stuff I found called Resin Sand by Liquitex. When it dries it has a really nice rough texture. Also thinking a more grey palette so that it doesn't fight the model.

I really like the colour scheme. I'm looking forward to seeing a squad of them....and a rhino....oh and a dread

I also think that the base works in that blue colour.

lol, no no! that's not the base, that's just blue tack used to hold the model while I paint him

lol. While I guessed it wasn't the finished base I was being serious... its just that the blue kinda works in contrast with the armour.

well it's been awhile, I've been out of town through the holiday and have just been able to get back and start painting again. The army is coming along pretty well. I spent most of my time doing the power armors. the weapons and the helmets I haven't touched much since the basecoat. They are taking a lot longer than expected because I'm new to the whole NMM technique. each one is going a little faster though. I did the bases with some leftover sculpey pieces, resin sand, and some bits I had left over from sprues.

Indeed, the colour scheme is efficient!!!

That's some P3 paint, you said? Damn, I'll have to find where I can buy some... Probably 100Km far from here, sadly...

Nice job!

yah I used a p3 for the basecoat. I think it's called "thrall flesh"

the highlights were done with bleached bone and thrall flesh
and the middles were hit with a light wash of camo green
and the darks were done with a graveyard earth/black wash.

I'm not usually a fan of bases that colorful, but it makes a nice contrast without looking like Christmas. Green and red, despite being complimentary colors, are just a little to festive usually! Nice that you mixed some grey in there and purpled it up. Your painting is really nice too - the blends on those shoulderpads are superb!

I totally agree, I was a little worried it looked a bit festive. I might grey it up a bit more because my eye is still being drawn there too much.

They would definitely make a great nurgle force, so time to make everything in sevens, because thats what Grandfather Nurgle wants.

Tonight, I finished the first 6 assault CSM's I have in my battleforce. I suspect i will be using this look for the rest of them as well. The Army Painter makes a cool product called "ash grey" and I sprinkled that over top of the bases to give the feeling of ash falling from the sky during the battle. I also added a few details like a severed ork head, broken armour, etc. I also painted on the decals marking these units under Nurgle's command. More to come soon as I will be starting the Tacs, Icon Bearer and Commander. me sleepy

Love it! Your original marine is dangerously close to my second major project. I just love seeing non-green, non-beer belly, non-tank-top nurgle troops

Well done bud, really nice work!

Hey All. Recently finished my Chaos Space Marine Tacs and lighting conditions were perfect to shoot outside today. I did a little greenstuff on the commander to make an intestinal track that connects to his backpack. I also did greenstuff flayed flesh banners for the icon bearer. I'm overall pretty satisfied with the look and feel of the completed unit they feel very cohesive to me. crits and thoughts are welcomd of course.

just put together some plague marines I got for Christmas. These are just the base builds. I will be adding some greenstuff to them. I'm thinking candles along their backpacks, but that's all dependent on my greenstuff skills ,which in honesty, are pretty pathetic.
