Stupid little thing is bugging me. I started putting together the Razorbacks and Rhino for my SM army and I keep wondering whether I should leave the dozer blades off or magnetize them on. Part of me just wants to build them and skip magnetization but I can't help thinking I just might have use for them. I always focus any extra points on upgrading my HQs or sergeants. Are dozer blades really an option that makes a difference?

I'll tell you a secret, something they don't teach you in your temples. The gods envy us. They envy us because we are mortal, because every moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we are doomed. You will never be lovlier than you are now and we will never be here again. |

I don't think in all of the years I have been playing that I have ever seen anyone actually pay the points for a dozer blade.

I think that any mech army would be in oversight if they passed up a 5 point upgrade that reduced the chance of their tanks being immobilized by a factor of 600%.
There are weapons/powers that, while rare, will Force you to take dangerous terrain checks... 1/6 doesn't sound like much.. until you have 6+ tanks.
While you will rarely be forced to go over rough terrain, I've seen situations where I (or my opponent) was forced to choose between moving over rough terrain, or being funneled by terrain.
Basically the dozer blade makes tanks better at doing what they're designed for. I.e. being mobile. If you have a tank that you're afraid to take offroading, or if you aren't afraid to take it offroading and it get's stuck, it will be harder to make full use of your tanks.

I've often found myself wondering if I should take them on my SM army. Then I realize that they are rarely needed, and that the one place an immobilized result really hurts is on a LR, which can't take the blade anyways. I'd say leave them off.

For a mere 5 points, the dozer blade provides great utility for your Rhinos and Razors. I'd honestly say it's almost an auto-include, though I prefer the big and awesome FW dozer blades to the rather weak-looking standard GW ones.
To be honest, I treat Space Marine units as essentially costing 15 points beyond their base price-- 10 for a combi-weapon on the Sergeant, 5 for a dozer. That should give you some idea of how important I think the blades are.
